The temperature test
Just so I knew what to expect from the cup, I filled it with cold tap water about 60 degrees. I put a thermometer with remote monitoring in it and plugged it into my Kodiak Generator which has 12 volt sockets. It took 2 hours to come to 110 degrees ambient temp of the air was around 55 degrees. It took 5 hours for the water to come to 160 and the water stayed at 160 for the 2 hours I monitored after reaching 160, the ambient air had dropped to 38 degrees. 160 is hot enough to brew black tea and is sipping only hot. The exterior of the mug was warm but never burning hot, even after several hours. It did not make much of a dent in my lithium 100aH battery charge so I it is fairly efficient. My take away from doing this is that if I fill the cup with hot tea, it will stay freshly brewed hot. The interior of the mug appears to be stainless steel, should be easy to clean as long as I don't heat soup. I plan to keep using my thermos for hot water on trips boiled in a kettle. But I can see using the cup to keep the tea nice and hot. A cup cozy of some sort would probably increase the efficiency.

Travel Heated Mug Overheated and Melted Inside of Mug.
We bought the Travel heat mug for an upcoming trip to keep our coffee warm/hot while driving. We noticed that the outside of the mug was hot to touch it let alone hold it. The coffee was too hot to drink. So we pulled the plug to let it cool down so we could hold it and drink it. There seemed no control on managing the temperature. The next time I went to put a cup of coffee in the mug, I looked in it and the inside of mug had at some point melted. So we threw the mug away in the nearest trash can. Note: We only plugged it in with liquid in the mug.

Great for heating baby bottle!
This is the most efficient and cost effective portable car baby bottle warmer available. Probably pretty useless as a coffee mug, as it boils (literally full boil!) and there is no way to regulate the temperature. But put some water in it when you set off on your road trip, and when you need to warm baby's bottle, just place it in the mug for a minute or two, and you have warm milk for baby. Best ten dollars I have ever spent. Love this thing!

Negatives of this mug outweigh its positives.
I bought the Vinmax 12V Stainless Steel Travel Coffee Mug and used it for three days before it started failing. There are three significant problems with this product.(1) The mug is not thermostatically controlled. Thus, if you leave it plugged in for longer than 15 minutes or so, it will overheat your drink to the point of scalding. The user needs to continually plug and unplug the mug in order to regulate temperature. This can be very annoying and distracting while driving.(2) After the second day of use, deformation started to occur in the material around the terminal on the cup. Once this happened, the plug no longer can be reliably retained in the socket and the plug is prone to falling out, causing the drink not to be heated.(3) The lid has a very low quality gasket which does not seal against leaks. The lid is press fit instead of screw down. If the mug is tipped over, there will be a spill.Still, there are a few positive points. I like that the interior and exterior of the cup are stainless steel and the mug seems to be fairly well insulated. Also, the mug fits well into a variety of cup holders. However, for this to be a keeper, the connection system needs to be much more robust and the lid needs to be spill proof. I have decided to return the mug because its negatives outweigh its positives.

Sturdy cup; keeps liquids HOT
This cup works great. I used it on a long trip recently. Kept my beverage Hot. It was hot to begin with and therefore it maintained temp well. NOTE: this cup will not heat your beverage in a hurry. If you start with room temp or colder it will take a long time, possibly 30 - 60 minutes to make it hot, but it WILL do it with time allowed. It will not heat cold beverages quickly; it is not a heating cup as you might desire for a quick heat-up. It may even overheat a drink, but simply unplug it for a while and, if needed, keep the lid open or remove it for a quicker cool-down.CAUTION: As the level drops down to half or lower, I recommend you unplug it or you may burn out the heating unit due to not enough liquid to absorb the heat dispersed by the heating unit. It happened to me in the past.

Very disappointed ! It stopped working after 3 uses
I liked that the mug could heat up liquid within 5 minutes. I started using this product just to heat up water. I used the wated to warm by baby’s baby bottle when i was on the road. The first 3 times the mug worked perfectly. It stopped working. I made sure not to wash it not to allow water to make contact with the area where the electrical car charger connects to the mug. The deadline to return this product has past. It is hard to believe that this product os made for people to warm their coffee. Most coffee drinkers consume coffee at least once or twice per day. This product should be able to allow coffee drinkers to warm their coffee daily for at least a few months before it stops working. I will NOT by another one.
