Great for hunting or other Ruger pistol applications.
I squirrel hunt with my Ruger 22/45 (legal in my state), and I wanted a decent holster for that purpose. Overall, this is a good holster.Pros: Solid with adjustable retention. Positive "click" upon holstering. The wide belt loops mean that if the belt fits through your pants loops, it'll fit this holster. The holster's space between the gun and you mean that even when wearing fall or winter clothing, it's out far enough that the gun isn't obstructed by your clothing. The extra space was GREAT thinking on the designer's part, because not only will it work with some optics (I don't use any) but that the holster will still work with an elevated front sight like my fiber optic sight. The contour of the paddle portion makes the holster very comfortable to carry. And, as you see in the photo, the trigger guard is completely covered.Cons: It took me awhile to find a tension where the holster would draw with a reasonable amount of force but wouldn't rattle with every step. I use this for hunting, so a gun that rattles in the holster while rattling is a huge hindrance; but like I said, it can be fixed. I really don't like the over-sized belt loops. The loops are 2.5" long, which means that with my normal 1.5" belt, the holster will sometimes rise with the gun an inch before the pistol actually begins to come out of the holster.Overall, this is a good holster for woods walking or fun. I did run it once in a 3-Gun match in a 22LR category and had tremendous fun. Recommended for most applications.

... wasn't expecting much from a holster which could be easily switched for carry on either side
Considering that I wasn't expecting much from a holster which could be easily switched for carry on either side, I was fairly impressed.I bought this to use in Rimfire competition (carbine/handgun) and couldn't justify more than twice the price for a Blade-tech holster. My 5.5" bull barreled Ruger Mark II fit very nicely in the holster. It was a bit tight when I received it, but the tension adjustment screws quickly rectified that. The adjustment screws are well placed and each serves it's respective function very well. The upper screw controlled retention and was easily adjusted to "just enough" for my purposes. The lower screw eliminates play of the barrel/frame in the holster without affecting draw speed. The holes in the holster body, for mounting on the other side, are a bit distracting, but they aren't horrible. The slots for your belt are sized for the widest belt listed (1.75") and there isn't a way to adjust the slot...however, once mounted on the belt, the movement was minimalThe only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it wasn't apparent in the picture or the description how high this holster rides on the belt. A picture with a gun inserted would have made it more apparent. The manufacturer (which isn't Tactical Solutions) offers a Low Ride holster attachment as an option, but it wasn't available through Amazon.I've been very happy with the function of the holster. It allows a very smooth, snag free, draw and yet the gun is very secure when fully holstered.I think this is an excellent value

Can be altered to work with 22/45 with attached 1 inch diamter suppressor.
I use it on a 22/45 with a threaded bull barrel that came with an optical rail above and a light rail below and a 4.5 inch barrel. The holster is long enough to cover a 6.5 inch barrel on a 22/45. The cutout for the optics extends about 1.75 inches forward of the receiver. The groove for the light rail below the barrel extends the length of the barrel part of the holster so a light rail of any length fits. Of course, it will not fit with anything attached to the rail and I cannot see a way to alter the holster to accommodate anything attached to the light rail because the adjustment bolts would be in the way. The holster covers the trigger; it does not cover the slide release, magazine release or safety. It is a little loose around the barrel so the gun can rattle even when the holster is properly adjusted at the trigger guard. Like many plastic holsters, it holds the gun at least .75 inches out from your body. When mounted on my belt, the muzzle direction cleared my leg with a few inches to spare. My inch diameter suppressor is slightly too large to fit; it rubed on four small plastic rails inside the holster. I easily removed these with a round micro-file and that allowed me to holster the gun with an attached suppressor. The high ride feature is high as it says. If you don't care about concealment, you will probably prefer the low ride version.

Perfect Fit!
I know...right, like who expects they may someday actually need to carry their Ruger MkII Target? Well, believe it or not, I did, and of all the things I love about guns - purchasing holsters (especially online) isn't one of them. They rarely seem to fit and often require some creative tweaking. And if you want to holster your weapon with a light or laser attached to the rail finding the right holster gets exponentially more challenging. With that in mind, I figured a holster for a gun as uniquely sized and shaped as my beloved tack hammer would be nearly impossible to find, so I had low expectations for this product's usefulness to say the least. To date, this is literally the only one of over a dozen holsters I've purchased on the Internet that is literally an absolutely perfect fit! I didn't even have to adjust the retention screws. It just works perfectly! I obviously can't say for sure, but from the looks of it, I think it would work perfectly with virtually any sight, from the somewhat lengthy reflex sight I have, to just about any reasonably sized tube scope. I've learned the hard way that firearms related items which work as intended right out of the box without needing any modification or adapters etc. are pretty rare, and those which actually do are to be prized. Take my word for it: this is one of the rare ones. And for this price you might assume the materials or hardware, or something about the design in general is "cheap". Absolutely not the case here. The polymer this holster is made from is every bit as thick and strong as other polymer and kydex models I've paid nearly 5 times as much for, before having to sand or cut on them to improve the generally bad fit. Great buy!
