VH/VA-Series Fluid Video Head with Quick Release Plate (VA-5 Fluid Head)

Great tripod head for spotting scope - smooth, stable.

This head is great. It’s a big upgrade over the one my tripod came with.

I have the head mounted on the SIRUI SVM Rapid System monopod. Works great for mobility and quick positioning. The head has a spring tension that I’d rather not have and releasing the quick release plate is not so quick depending on the equipment being used. (The release button is located on the rear/back of the head as opposed to the side like a majority of quick releases). Functionality and ease of use are great.

I purchased this video head for the purpose of using with a spotting scope viewing western big game, and using to video and photograph through my phone and camera. First, I've been through several video heads that didn't make the cut. I've bought, sold, and given a few away. This is the most expensive video head I've purchased which isn't saying a lot. It came recommended from other's digiscoping that thought it worked pretty well. And it does work decently but it takes some getting used to. I have enjoyed the video head. However as mentioned in other reviews, the clamps are poorly located, as is the panning knob to lock or unlock to move the head. It's somewhat smooth but not as smooth as I'd hoped it would be, and struggles a little when trying to lock the tilt in place with a spotting scope on it. I often times need to lock my scope in a little higher so that it compensates for the movement after I lock it into place. It works fine for now, but I will likely sell this down the road and get a better video head for what I am doing and buy an Outdoorsman video head. It does pair nicely with a Promaster carbon fiber tripod. If your budget is within this price range, I would recommend this fluid head. If you have more money to spend, I would look a little further into other options.

Bought this one as a friend has the same and loves it. So far, I do too. Placed it on my tripod and love the fluid movement. Makes game spotting fun again.

Not much more to say but have you ever felt good after spending a lot of money for a product. Well you will feel good once you install and start using the Sirui Tripod head. Super functional and a very high quality product.

I received the quick-release version of this head, which usually goes for twenty bucks more than the basic version. I was initially pleased, until I tried to put my camera on the head. Neither the Peak Designs plate nor the Leofoto plate works with this head! The Leofoto plate can be forced to fit, but it won't slide, so it can't be balanced, and it doesn't feel right. The head itself is decent, but the fluid damping feel is decidedly inferior to that of my 32-year-old Manfrotto 128RC. So the new head feels worse than the old one and is no more compatible. Back it goes.

I have this setup on my slik tripod for hunting. I’m running a vortex viper 20-60x85 spotter and this head is smooth as butter.

Ich bestellte den Kopf für den Betrieb am Adlatus Videostativ USV-423E. Siehe meine dortige Rezension. Der Kopf ist sehr hochwertig gefertigt, CNC, hochwertige Oberfläche, usw. Er läuft in beiden Dimensionen einwandfrei fluidgedämpft mit durch Schrauben einstellbaren Widerstand. Mein eigentlicher Kaufgrund war aber die vorhandene Counterbalance, also eine Rückstellkraft, die ein Kippen der Kamera um die Querachse verhindert, wenn die Friktion nicht auf streng eingestellt ist. Die Kraft ist fix eingestellt (ca. 1 kg), die Justierung der Kamera erfolgt durch Verschiebung vor/rück mit der Arca-Swiss Platte. Der Kopf hat zwei Nivellierlibellen, eine an der Basis zum Nivellieren am Stativ, eine weitere oben auf dem Neiger. Ich verwende den Kopf mit einer Kamera von ca. 1,3 - 2,3 kg, je nach Objektiv. Lediglich der Schwenkhebel könnte ein wenig länger sein, wenn sich das als erforderlich herausstellt, werde ich eine mobile Verlängerung "basteln". Sollten sich nach längerem Betrieb nennenswerte Ergänzungen ergeben, werde ich diese nachtragen.
