Shadow Warrior PlayStation 4 by Majesco

In 1997, 3D Realms released their follow up to their FPS hit, Duke Nukem 3D. Unfortunately, people were still high on Duke Nukem and id Software's Quake was just around the corner which would make Shadow Warrior and Duke Nukem 3D ancient. So Shadow Warrior faded into obscurity. And it seems the Shadow Warrior the 2013 reboot is still somewhat unknown. Which is a shame because this game is a bloody, gory good time. The gun play is fun but where it really shines is the sword play. It's always satisfying to hack your enemies into bloody chunks. This also stands out from others FPSs like Call of Duty and Battlefield because of the unique combo system and weapons upgrade. The dialog is also really funny, seeing as how it was originally made by 3D Realms, the people who made the cocky Duke Nukem. If you want a fresh, different FPS experience, give Shadow Warrior a try.

プロローグで「こりゃ面白いわ〜♪」と思ったけど、すぐにクリーチャーとの戦いになり興醒め↓面白いけど最後までプレイする気がなくなり、自分のストレス発散の為プロローグだけ２日に１回プレイしてます！クリーチャーLET'S KILLな人なら楽しめると思いますよ〜♪

前作はプレイした事はないので分かりませんが、基本やることは同じです。殲滅して進んで行くだけでアクションもそんな面白いとは思いませんでした。見慣れた敵がワラワラと出てくるだけで飽きてきます。前作がFPSらしいのでFPSを貫くのは当たり前ですが、見辛い辺りTPSのがこのゲームは良いと思ってしまいました。

I'm 5/20 levels into this game. So far I've really enjoyed it. I paid about $15 for it, and already consider it well worth it.Pros:- Fast paced fun FPS gameplay.- Sword combat is really enjoyable, as is your unlimited supply of throwing stars.- Fun moments for fans of the original, and old school FPS in general (Doom, Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem)Cons:- Graphics are good, but well below what the PS4 is capable of.- The game puts so many moves in your arsenal that the controls can be a bit overwhelming.- The RPG-eqsue skills, weapon upgrades, and powers are fun, but that mechanic doesn't flow well with the fast pace feel of the game.The only thing I really wish the game has is the complete original (a la Doom for the XBox).

I decided to give this game a try given the good reviews and the budget-friendly price. I'm happy I gave this game a try. I didn't play the original Shadow Warrior games, but the lack of knowledge of the original doesn't make the game less fun. The game last about 20 hours and there are a variety of weapons to try and upgrade. Each of the weapons seems to work better in different situations so they are all fun to try. In most games, I find I stick with just one weapon, but in this one, each one had a use.The sword is probably the most useful and fun-to-use weapon. Using the touch pad, you can control a variety of special moves. One part of the game I didn't like was that it was controlling the different special moves was difficult. I had a difficult time remembering which swiping gesture corresponded to each special move and I also had difficulty quickly performing the gestures. Also, sometimes I would enter one gesture, but the controller recognized it as a different gesture. Hacking and slashing works well though too and I mostly found myself using the special moves when there was just one enemy around.The game offers several different difficulty levels, so anyone can play. I also liked that each weapon and special move can be upgraded as well as the character's health.The voice acting in this game was amusing to me. I would describe this game as silly fun. There was a goofy story that was moderately enjoyable.A couple of things were a little annoying, such as not having a map and the graphics being more like a PS3 game than a PS4 game. Both are forgivable though since this game is a lot of fun and the price is right.
