This is a definite upgrade from the builders railing. Sharp and modern looking, if you like the industrial look. Just be careful, there were a few sharp burrs on the flanges, both my wife and I cut our hands on them. A little sanding and touch up and they are just fine.

Not suitable for outdoors. Rusts immediately. Not galvanised.

Installed handrails today for our basement steps. Standard 1 inch pipe thread used on all pipes and flanges. Only one complaint. Pipe threads are ridiculously short which makes it impossible to make a full rotation to position and tighten pipe elbows and flanges. Maybe Teflon tape or pipe dope could be used to give a more positive connection. But all in all the handrails are very sturdy. I needed to purchase a 6 inch pipe nipple at Home Depot that was used at the top of the railing where the wall was recessed beyond the cinder blocks.

Great product. A great final result depends on installing it to your wall/structural base properly (which I think is a 2-person job unless it's a short stairway). Assuming correct installation, I'm confident it's going to last a long time even with regular use.
