Would this be suitable in the sea ?

The website says it can be used on the ocean aswell as medium white water. It's got self bailing scupper plugs and a drop stitched floor so can't see a problem in the ocean.. if its an inflatable kayak you need or want then the steam is your best bet for your needs unless you want to pay more money and get a full dropstiched inflatable

Can I put 4in thick foam block below the seat to raise if for my bad back?

Hi, the seat bottom is attached by Velcro strips. The strips are on the deck & underneath the seat. You would need to attach Velcro to the blocks in order to hold the seat in position. There are straps on both sides of the seat, front & rear but I doubt the seat would be stable without the Velcro. Also 4 inches is quite high & might effect stability. Hope that helps.
