and the lid/carrying mechanisms are great. BUT these leak
Holds more than your average bottle, and the lid/carrying mechanisms are great.BUT these leak, especially after filling. I thought it may have been an isolated case, but a classmate has the same item and voiced equal frustration over this issue. It's ok, but I would invest in a higher quality product. The leaking is really annoying.

Lid mysteriously unscrews itself, get the nipple.
All my friends own the nipple-lid CamelBak. I wanted something fresh, new, and less like a sippy cup. Less than a week after my attempt to break free from the social norm of the nipple, and the inside of my backpack, along with my precious notebooks for school, were drenched. But maybe it was my fault, maybe I didn't screw the cap on properly. I believe in user error and second chances. From then on, I took precautions, pausing to double check a tight seal after every sip and refill. Still a month later, the top unscrewed itself, once again drowning the contents of my backpack, now including a library book, in wet regret. After walking home in wet pants, I found I do not believe in third chances. I have surrendered my individuality and prescribed to the nipple-lid lifestyle.*Two stars because the bottle itself is still good, and CamelBak sells lids separately.

Some Bottles Leak, Some Don't
I have two of these water bottles. One of them never leaks, and one does. For anyone who is confused about why some reviewers say their water bottles leak and some say theirs never leak, it's because some of these water bottles are dramatically higher quality than others. I purchased a purple one in 2017 that's awesome. It's super easy to clean, no funny smells after a year of use, and it has never once leaked, ever. A couple months ago I purchased a second one in charcoal. This one does leak. I've spent some time thinking on why that is and how other purchasers can tell if they've bought a bottle that'll leak within the return window. It seems to me that Camelbak made some minor changes to this water bottle at some point in time, and that the newer bottles are more likely to leak. Some other reviewers have complained that their water bottles get scuffed easily, and I've found the charcoal one is far less likely to do that. The plastic and rubbery lid material also feel different, and it has different markings and numbers on the bottom (photo attached). Notice how the fork and cup positions are switched on the inferior bottle. As another reviewer has mentioned, the leaking issue is caused by the cap not twisting on completely on one side and leaving a gap for water to escape. The newer bottles seem to have a few defects in design and materials that make this much more likely to happen.Signs of a Dud:-No matter how tight you close the lid, you should still be able to move the blue plastic ring below it that's attached to the cap. If you can close the lid so tight the ring below it can't move, that's a sign of a bad water bottle.-When you twist the cap on and off to drink, it shouldn't feel like it catches anywhere. The bottle I have that leaks is a bit more difficult to close than the one that doesn't, which twists on completely smoothly.-When the cap is off, you should be able to twist it inside the blue ring completely smoothly. If it doesn't seem to want to turn, you've got a dud.-I've attached photos of the bottoms of my two water bottles, which have different markings. If yours has the same numbers on the bottom, especially if it's in the same color, that's a sign it may be from the same production run as my crappy bottle. If you receive your water bottle and it shows any of these signs, you should return it and order another one if you can, maybe in a different color or from a different supplier. Based on the reviews it seems that the charcoal ones experience more issues with leaking. If you already own a water bottle that leaks, you can still use it and even throw it in your bag with the rest of your stuff--you just have to check the cap first. If the cap is completely flush with the lid all the way around, the water bottle shouldn't leak. If you aren't paying attention and the cap goes on wrong and then you throw your water bottle on the bed, that's when spills happen. Next time your water bottle leaks, take a look at how the cap is sitting and you'll see what I mean, or look very closely at the images another user posted of this issue.

Great bottle if your lucky
I give this three stars because I have 2. One is amazing and the other is of much less quality. Lets start with the good. Large 1 liter size is great I drink a lot of water and anything less than a liter I am filling it up at least twice an hour. The seal on the good one is excellent and have never had any issues. At first the lid gave me some issues, but once I got the technique for popping the cap onto its holder its a great design and very convenient! My favorite feature of this bottle is the perfect sized mouth piece. Its small enough I never get any splash or spillage but large enough I can pour it into my mouth faster than I can drink it. I have had my good one for over 2 years and it looks brand new. 5 star product. The bad. I bought a second one for my girlfriend because this is such a good water bottle. The second one worked great at first except the ring that is under the lid attached to the cap was very tight and made it hard to turn and get the lid on and off. After some use it loosened up and was no longer an issue. BUT due to the excessive force needed to twist that plastic piece it had weakened and one of the little arms broke. After a little more time the bottle started to leak as well from the lid/bottle connection.Great water bottle but poor quality control it seems.

Great item
Love this product. Easy to clean and use. Since getting one for myself I've had to buy 3 more for the family to ensure I have my own. I now drink around 2 -3 litres of water daily and it sits on the bedside table overnight, when I used to use a glass I was always worried about knocking it over and spilling the contents if I needed a drink in the night. This also solves that problem. It goes with me on the plane (I fill it up after I pass security), the train, the car, to yoga.... you name it. Plus it reduces the amount of plastic bottles I buy and the number of glasses I (and everyone at home) use around the house. You can also but a replacement mouthpiece if need be.

Nice colour, good size, cap lever can break after repeated use.
I had the 750ml version of this bottle, however, the clip for the cap eventually snapped due to repetitive untwisting of the cap. I decided to buy the bigger 1L version and so far it has lasted 6 months with the cap lever remaining intact.Positives+ easy to drink, not a huge mouthpiece+ nice shape and size+ range of coloursNegatives- Inner cap can stain easily- Don't place in the dishwasher, it will keep the taste of dishwater for a long time.

A nicely designed and robust water bottle.
I like the Chute design and have the insulated version for my commute coffee too. This one has been my water bottle used throughout the day, every day for the last couple of months and it is holding up very well. I think it looks good (but you can make your own mind up on that from the pictures!) but what I like most isa) it does not leakb) I like that the threads are on the inside of the spout, not against my lipsc) the cap can be pushed (needs a bit of force) into the handle to keep it out of the way while I'm drinkingIt I was to lose this I would almost certainly buy another one so I must be pretty happy with it :-)

Great bottle - easy to clean, encourages hydration, and looks all round
Great bottle. Use it more than I should. I don't take it out with me to hike or anything like that, but I use it around the house. Having a large capacity and such a welcoming hydration nozzle really makes me hydrate more throughout the day!I think it's a great bottle to keep around since the design is so pleasant (there are even little tabs on the side telling you how much water there is!), and would keep you away from nasty sugary drinks more decently than you could've imagined. The nozzle is very easy to clean, and the lid is designed so that it can't be removed from the plastic body - very handy if you don't want to lose the cap assembly!
