My Hero
I have now read all of Mr. Ayers books. He got me started in the madness and I am now an Iron Butt Member. I have yet to meet him, but this book is inspiring to say the least. It fully captures the essence of LD riding and its ups and downs. Ayers is a master rider and it clearly shows in his sharing his experience with all of us and his humility in his triumph. This is a must read for anyone who is interested in this type of hobby. Many of the names will be familiar to anyone associated with the IBA.

Great read
I thoroughly enjoyed Ron Ayres description of his motorcycle ride touching the lower 48 states in 6 days breaking a record, and then becomming the first to officially record the additional trip to AL, covering all 49 N. American U.S. states in 7 days. Although some reviewers don't like the format Ron uses, I found it both an interesting read, hard to put down, as well as a journal account of an amazing endurance ride.

Good read for those interested in long-distance motorcycling
I've been into endurance riding (long-distance motorcycling but far more than touring) for years and found this book to be of great interest, informative, and easy reading. Anyone who'd rather roll off 500 or more miles a day on a motorcycle than cruise main or ride an hour to socialize for three hours will find this book worth buying and reading.

I enjoyed Against the Wind
I enjoyed Against the Wind, but this book is pretty much a "thank you" to the great people of the LD riding community who were witnesses and helped Ron out on his record-breaking trip. In fact, it can be a bit off-putting in regards to the IBA and its rules (my impression, not Ron Ayers'). Instead of taking the time to read this book, get on your bike and put in 1,000 miles!
