I bought this to work as a sun light / heater in my office. In the midwest, we need sun lights or we get depressed. This light makes it feel like a sunny day outside.Real sunlights need to be 8-10 inches from your face and blasting your eyes. With this sucker, you can have it nearby/indirect and it has a similar effect over time.It does make some noise and some heat, but on the other hand, free heat in the winter!To make work, you'll need a fixture rated to 250W and an adaptor for the big bulb to a standard bulb.

Put these in a high bay warehouse replacing metal halides. Removed the reflectors from the halide fixture and let the light bounce off the ceilings and walls because these bulbs are omnidirectional vs. the halides. Current draw is significantly lower and light output is significantly higher. You can see much better in the warehouse. I think they might be too bright if the bulbs were not mounted so high. These are about 35 feet up. We mounted one in our toolroom at about 14 feet high and it had too much glare at that height. You had to shield your eyes. They have only been installed for a couple of weeks, so I cannot speak as to the longevity.

We ordered 2 of this brand and used them to replace additional metal halide bulbs in our shop area. Of the 10-lights, both of this particular brand caught on fire. This is not an exaggeration, there was literally 2-3' flames coming out of the housing of this bulb and the warehouse was full of smoke. If our ceiling had not been made of steel, it could have possible burned the building down

I am giving this a 5 star rating for now. I am going to be honest the LED corn lights I get from Amazon barely last a year. I am hoping this one will last much longer.I think these bulbs to better inside. I have my bulb outside in an open protected light fixture. It can not over heat and protected from the elements above.If anything changes I will update my review.
