I have a 48inch tank. Which size do i get, 36-48 or 48-60?

depends. if you want 36 inches of light or 48 inches of light. we did 36-48 for our 55 gal and we should have gone 48-60. there are support bars that stretch to 48 if you buy the 36-48. 48-60 would cover the entire length of our 55 gal. where as 36-48 does not. thanks

not sure if your joking , no . 8 feet long your going to need alot more that a 2.5' top , try 2 x 48"-60" more than likely 4 hoods

The 36" light is actually 34.75 inches in length. 90cm = 35.4 inches, so you should be OK, barely. Be sure to factor in your canopy - i.e., does it lessen the available space.
