Is this the stuff you put on your carpets to kill fleas??

It works for fleas as well as pretty much any kind of bug. I love diatomaceous earth, I use it inside and out. While safe to humans and animals (food grade version) it will kill virtually any bug that comes in contact with it. It is composed of the fossilized remains of tiny organisms known as diatoms. The edges of these fossilized diatoms are extremely sharp and will lacerate the exoskeleton of nearly any crawling insect that comes in contact with them. The insects’ movement across the diatomaceous earth also contributes, by helping the sharp edges to lacerate the bug’s body. Essentially, when crawling insects come in contact with diatomaceous earth it is like walking across shards of broken glass. Once their outer shell has been lacerated, the powdery DE dehydrates the insect, killing it, although not instantaneously.

Will food grade kill bugs or do i need the one marked insect killer?

It is my understanding that both will work to kill off bugs.  I get the food grade so I can also use it on my cats to prevent\kill fleas.

Does this contain silica?

Recieved mine with NO foil/ safety seal* did this happen to anyone else?

My bottle had no seal of any sort either, and the envelope it was delivered in was completely ripped open at the top with the top section of the bottle was sticking out of the envelope (the picture the delivery person took shows it this way too, so who knows how long it was accessible to how many people), meaning that anyone could have opened the container and put anything in it.  I do not feel comfortable using it as a result and will have to return it or throw it away, which is a major pain in the a** considering that I am quarantining and can not risk being around other people.  Terrible packaging and never should have been delivered in a package that was ripped open!
