Modem or router - the choice is yours
I needed an LTE modem or router with standard Ethernet interfaces to replace my old LB2120 as it started to loose signal to the mobile network. The new LM1200 feels like the new, face-lifted version of the LB2120. If you used any Netgear LTE device, the Web interface will be instantly familiar. They both offer a wired WAN port and they can use LTE as a failover. The LAN port can be used as a router LAN or it can be used in modem mode where it will bridge the LTE IP to that port. The default IP is 192.168.5.1/24. The default password is printed on a label on the back of the modem. The reception is good with the device itself but you may get even better reception with external TS9 antennas. In my case, the external antennas that I bought separately, did not make my reception any better, maybe even worst.I am using the device with a Three UK SIM and it works fine. I just wish that Three would be better, but hey, they are cheap. You can connect to the mobile network on 3G or 4G.This device will not give you Wifi itself, but it can be connected right to your existing router as a WAN in modem mode (default) and make your whole household online.I am using it in router mode as a backup in my home lab. The Netgear box set up with DMZ traffic to be sent to my main router. The device can do NAT, DHCP server, DMZ, port blocking and port forwarding. All the basic router stuff. One thing that I like is the USB-C for power. You will receive a charger and a USB-A to USB-C cable.I think the USB-C port is only for charging, not for data, but I will try it with a computer.

This does not work as a failover LTE modem
The good - great 4G speeds and stable for internet connectionsThe bad - primary use was as a failover LTE modem, but it just does not work. The documentation is sparseI returned it and got a TP-Link Archer NX200 5G Router instead - everything works great, for my needs.

Fall Over Didn't work
Good: LTE modem easy to set up and works well (used in the UK with SMARTY).Bad: Failover mode doesn't seem to work. Lots of posts about this in various forums, but no clear solution. I wouldn't purchase it again.

Great backup for braodband
Replaced my barodband connection for a week when someone cut the cable without me having to reconfigure all the routers/firewalls etc. Doesn't work as a duel homed live backup althought it said it does, so now lives in the cupbaord to be brought out in case of another significant failure.

Great value
Replaced my Huawei 4g router and it's significantly better. Way more stable and latency is far lower. Just a shame the 5g version is so expensive when this is a sixth of the cost. Definitely a good purchase though

Ronseal at its best
Replacement for an ISP's combined router modem with the power of a flea. Fitted a Smarty SIM (£20 per month rolling contact) with u/l data. Piggy backed off the 3 network. Worked first time with no messing. Rarely needs a re-boot. Used with an RAX80 downstream to control 80+ devices. Perfectly stable. Absolutely zero hassle.
