This is such a useful purchase for me because I mix it in with my chicken feed during the winter months to minimize parasites, discourage rodents and essentially keep the chickens warmer! In addition to buying this in bulk I also buy black pepper, garlic, thyme, and oregano each for different reasons. Cayenne pepper works best out of them all! It was fresh, the flavor was good because I used it for cooking as well which make the versatility of it worth it and very much so worth the money! Great value.

My problem has been aggressive squirrels. I have tried many products from chemical repellants to sound emitting devices. Each has drawbacks but for my money the best repellent is this simple Cayenne. Easy to pour and you will learn quickly to keep your nose away. The drawback is the staying power. Once wet it coagulates but does not easily go away. If you have a lawn watering system and the cayenne is in range, you will only get a single use. If you have heavy dew in the mornings you will likely get only a couple days. But if you have a reasonably dry area and need only to worry about rain, this is a great deterrent, and its fun watching the squirrels get in a panic when they hit it. Makes me happy.

I bought this initially to sprinkle in my garden to ward off armadillos. Turns out, those critters enjoy their spicy little bugs and that idea was a fail. However, I am also a spice fiend (can’t blame those armadillos!) and always have cayenne on hand. This one is fantastic- very fresh and rich pepper smell- not like some of the other bulk brands that are dried out and not as pungent. It has a slightly hotter flavor than the store brand due to the quality, which I love. The packaging lends itself to bulk cooking or spreading in a garden, but it’s easy to funnel into a smaller jar for general use. I will definitely buy this again. It’s a great value for the money.

Good for keeping squirrels from digging in gardens. Not 100% but helps immensely. Need a pretty thick layer to be effective.

Believe it or not, I use this product as a pest & animal deterrent! Nice product inside. I’d use this for food. I actually bought this to deter some marmots in the area I could not trap. Poured a bunch at the den hole. Mask n goggles on. Stood upwind and used my leaf blower to shoot it in the hole. Several treatments over course of a week. The marmots have moved away. Tip -be sure to shower yourself and careful with your clothing afterward. The powder is fine and will still get you dusted.

Why does anyone need this much cayenne if not for a restaurant? Because it makes a good animal deterrent so animals don’t pee and poop where they aren’t supposed to. Look at the other animal deterrent products and you’ll see this is priced as well or better for what you get. You’ll need to reapply regularly, more often at first, until the animals get trained to skip your yard as their bathroom. It’s best applied to slightly wet grass, etc., so that it will stick easier. Morning dew dampness is enough, or perhaps after 1-2 minutes of sprinkler activation. Expect settling from shipping.

It's a good pepper, but sort of nothing works for squirrels. It needs to be filtered in order not to clog up the sprayer. It makes me sneeze though.
