So I have been waiting for these for a few months now and I can say these are excellent headphones. I also have owned these which I will compare them to:Bowers & Wilkens PXSony 1000 MX3Master Dynamic MG20So first off these feel well made but not overly heavy like the B&W PX, and not as light or cheap feeling as the Sony's. The app works well has a lot of features and does not force you to turn on location. You don't need the app but it is nice and works well. There was a firmware update that applied pretty quickly and they actually described the update and what it added/fixed which is nice as most companies don't really tell you. The voiced turning on/off prompts are nice, very clear and what's cool is you can change the prompt language as well. I set mine to japanese and I like the voice, lol!The headphones are more comfortable than the Sony's and the PX's over time, my glasses didn't dig in to my face and the clamping force is pretty much spot on. Inside the ear cups there is clear large letters for Left and Right which lets you put them on much faster. With the Sony's I had to search for the small L/R text and was always annoying. The PX isn't to clear either on the left and right positioning. The PX I had I gave away as one of the volume buttons stopped responding and I had to adjust it from the device everytime. Bowers & Wilkens support is terrible and weeks of emails they still refused to help me solve the problem. I considered the PX7 but the carbon infused plastic they use on the frame is a poor choice and will snap on impact as it is very brittle and not made for flexibility. I am a Mechanical Design Engineer and can tell you that was a terrible material choice. You can also look at the reviews and see how many people have had them snap. They do sound good though just like the PX but the new ones build quality is poor.The Technics has multi device connectivity which is great as I connect to my phone and PC at the same time and its a smooth swap when calls come in. There are 8 mics (4 for NR) and the call test I did were well recieved my my friends even in breezy area was very clear on the other end.The battery is the biggest draw here and I actually got more then 50 hrs on the first session as I did not have noise reduction on max. You can also choose your level of ambient noise in, there are lots of settings in the app.There are physical buttons for volume/power/pairing which is nice. I am not a fan of touch interface but you can also set up the touch style functions you want through the app as one of the earcup outer panels is a touch interface.The sound is very good for my use, they require high end input to appreciate them and I do not have that so best search other reviews for high end stuff. I watch movies, audiobooks, and PC games and its great for my needs probably more than I need.The Master Dynamic MG20's I returned through RMA, for $500 I expected great stuff but it has this stupid auto off feature thet turns off the headphone after 10-15 minutes of use if it doesnt detect movement. I mean If I am sitting and watching TV or on the PC or even plane I'm not really moving around alot and it was so frustrating as they were very good headphones otherwise especially the build quality. These also have a stupid app that requires your location to be on.Anyways for the price these are great, they are not cheap, but they are not price gouging either like some brands. The tech is cutting edge, battery life is the best on the market and they look good in an office setting, public or anywhere. I hope this review helps people with their decisions.

I consider myself an audiophile. I own many different wired headphones from dynamic driver headphones to planar magnetic headphones. Too many IEMs to count. Multiple headphone amplifiers, DACs, DAPs, etc...I owned the Sony wh-1000xm4 for 4 years now and have loved them. I prefer wired headphones because of the superior sound quality, but for Bluetooth headphones they sound amazing. And noise cancelling is bar none. Well the battery stopped holding a charge and when I contacted Sony, I found out the battery isn't replaceable and I was told to recycle them and buy a new pair. I later found out this is the major issue with Bluetooth headphones, the batteries are not replaceable. But still need Bluetooth headphones for convenience.Enter the Technics EAH-A800. I have some thoughts:Fit and comfort: They are heavier than the sony's. But the ear cup pads are thicker and more comfortable. And I can wear my glasses and still get a seal. Headband padding reminds me of the Sony WH-1000XM5. Perfect distribution of weight across my head so I can wear these for hours without any discomfort.Noise cancelling: I do want to mention that I primarily use these headphones for the noise cancelling feature because I am autistic and being in public and loud sounds trigger me and the Sony headphones have a feature that cancels out background noise and allows voices through. Which is a godsend for me. Wearing them in public allows me to be out and about and not worry about loud sounds but allows me to hear when I'm spoken to. I thought the Sony noise cancelling was amazing. But the Technics are astonishing! The noise cancelling takes Sony's technology and elevates to a level I didn't know possible. And the transparency mode is crazy! The Sony headphones allowed the Voices through but they sound muffled and robotic sounding. But Voices come through so much cleaner and clear not muffled unlike the Sony!Sound: Now for the most important thing the sound quality. The Sony wh-1000xm4 always had a neutral sound but the bass was always muddy no matter how I equalized them. And they didn't go very loud. The Technics has a clean sound with sparkle up top! Something the Sony could never do! And once you get the equalizer set right on the Technics, the sound is otherworldly! Bass is quick, tight, and precise! Midrange/vocals are so clear and just beautiful. The treble is where the Technics shine. Such sparkle up top without ever becoming fatiguing or brittle. The Sony headphones soundstage was always close and not expansive by any means. Yes the Sony headphones can do 360 audio and Dolby Atmos, really all that adds is and echo to everything and lowers the volume even further. The soundstage on the Technics is expansive and enveloping. It gives my Sundara planar magnetic headphones a run for their money. Amazing!Conclusion: BUY THESE HEADPHONES AND FORGET THE SONY HEADPHONES. You won't be sorry!

I purchased Technics A800 after owning a Sony 1000xm3 (so I know how bad the sound could be) and AirPods Max (so I also know how good the sound could be).At first, I liked them. The sound is not as good as APM but clearly better than Sony. Comfort is ok - no complaints here. Battery life is great. The microphone is decent as well. Bluetooth connectivity is outstanding! I was able to use them without any noticeable interruptions 50 feet away from the source behind 2-3 walls. Other headphones that I used were glitching heavily at this point.But their biggest flaw that made me return them is the functioning of the ANC/Transparency mode. If you shake your head even so slightly you will hear a subtle wobbling noise. And when you run or walk this sound is also present. This is simply unacceptable. I guess that can be fixed with the firmware. But as for now, it's not.So I returned them and ordered one more pair of the same headphones hoping that they might not have this issue. Also, I ordered Sennheiser Momentum 4 in parallel. They Arrived earlier, I tried them on... and returned one more pair of technics without even opening them :) man... Sennheisers blow them out of the water. They sound better than APM in my opinion. Of course, they have a so-called v-shaped frequency response but it can be flattened with eq if needed. The sound quality remains solid. Very nice, accurate, and detailed. Technics just don't hold up to that standard. I just hear more in the Sennheisers, especially in the higher frequency spectrum.
