Vertical knocks it out of the park once more.
How are you madmen putting out such high-quality releases once every other month? Please, please, PLEASE do the rest of the series, 'cause I absolutely have to see what you can do with Onimonogatari.Yeah, in case you couldn't tell, this is another great book by everyone's favorite palindrome. The translation is, as it was in the other two 'gatari books, impeccable - praise that's becoming harder and harder to give as time goes on. They even manage to nail the "senpai" thing just right, their choice meshing perfectly with Kanbaru's goofy nature. The story, of course, is still excellent, too. Not only do we meet two more of our lovely heroines, but we even get some scenes of long-term importance and - believe it or not - even more character development for Arararagi (sorry, slip of the tongue). Yes, there's more for him, even after how much he changed in Kizu! The other characters we know and love also start becoming more proactive, with Oshino getting involved in the Jagirinawa incident and Shinobu expressing herself slightly more. Bake 3 is gonna be amazing. Oh, and also - the banter is top-notch, as always. Kanbaru provides a refreshing break from the barbs laced in Gahara-san and HACHIKUJIIIIII conversations.Once again, I am dumbfounded by how good a job Vertical is doing on this series - and so quickly, too! The translation job, the print quality, everything. This is the standard that all other localization companies should strive to meet. Do the whole series so I can give you more money!

If you liked the show and you like to read, the book is fine.
As an only anime watcher, I decided to pick up the light novels instead of doing a rewatch. I think the best part of this book is reading the small details missed in the show. I’ve never written a book review but if you are a big fan of the show and you like to read then definitely pick it up!That being said I think translator did a great job at making sure to translate the jokes as best as possible. Lots of Japanese word play doesn’t translate into English as well. The only problem I had was I wish there were footnotes. They’ll be some jokes and other Japanese culture references; in the book that I had to go look up to figure out what they were talking about.

its localized
if you want the real monogatari experience go the extra mile and spend 40 years learning japanese. otherwise its pretty good.

I love this series
What else is there to say? I love this series. Each chapter is just the main character having a conversation as the mystery unravels by the end. It's fun, Japanese, and thought-provoking. I've read every book so far and can't get enough.

Translate more swiftly
Really wish they would translate these things quicker. Feel like I'll have already learned Japanese by the time they finish the series. Other than that, I'm pleased. It doesn't seem like they were too liberal with translation or left anything out or changed anything due to "localization" purposes, which is all I can ask for. Good here very quickly, really love the illustrations and covers they went with on these books.

Great Book
I've watched some of the Monogatari Series but now I've decided to read the light novel in the Japanese release order as well.

Different experience to the anime
The experience of reading is so different to watching this series, especially when it comes to scenery, which the anime likes to exaggerate.I also think the translation is a pretty good one, they did their best to get as much of the wordplay as possible across into the English language, even tho the English language doesn't really have as much of the intricacies that japanese does. My only real complaint is the lack of honourifics breaking the flow of sentences. "My senior Araragi" jut sounds a bit awkward compared to "Araragi-senpai"

Kanbaru + Araragi = lachflash
Ich liebe die Monogatari Serie (Anime) und hab mir nicht erträumen lassen das es im Light Novel noch besser wird. Aber ich weiß nicht wann ich das letzte Mal so hart gelacht habe, weil ich etwas laß. Bisher der beste Teil der Monogatari Light Novel Serie <3

One of the most critically acclaimed books in the Light ...
One of the most critically acclaimed books in the Light Novel fandom, huge fan of the series, finished the anime thrice. And finally now that there are legit English translations of these, I can finally collect the hard copies.Edit: They should just make a glossary of Japanese terms like "san" and "senpai" with the meaning instead of translating it to "mister" and "senior" for the whole book. Makes the real words dull imo.
