I generally don't shoot F4 glass and prefer faster stuff, but I picked this up for a trip and it's truly a pro-grade optic. IQ is superior to superzooms like the 24-200 and it's very usable at F4 with excellent sharpness and micro-contrast. AF speed is very good on my Z9 and Zf. So in spite of being something of a lens snob, I find that the 24-120 F4s is very capable and perhaps the most ideal travel lens that offers a fairly broad zoom range with the lease IQ compromises. It's a very well engineered lens!

Its wide focal range makes it a convenient choice, covering landscapes at 24mm and bringing subjects closer with the 200mm telephoto end. Despite being a superzoom, the image quality is surprisingly sharp across the range, with good contrast and minimal distortion. The build feels solid yet lightweight, making it an excellent companion for mirrorless Z cameras without adding much bulk. In practice, autofocus is fast and reliable, and the built-in VR (vibration reduction) helps achieve steady handheld shots even at longer focal lengths. While the aperture is variable and not ideal for low light, it’s a fair tradeoff for the lens’s portability and reach. Overall, the 24-200mm is a fantastic all-around lens for photographers who want one lens to handle most situations without constantly switching.

If you are considering a versatile lens for everyday use and for travel, this is a very good option. Prime lenses offer better optics in low light conditions or for special purposes, but nothing beats the usability and creative control of a good zoom lens, and this one from Nikon, with it's nearly 100mm focal range, is a perfect option. Would it be better if it were a F2.8 opening aperture? Sure, but it would weigh more than twice what it does now and it would cost well over twice the price. For 98% of everyday application, F4 is more than adequate, and if you know how to use your lens you can get nice looking bokeh for portraits as well. A great choice. No buyer's remorse for this one!

Plenty of online reviews suggest this is a high quality and high value lens, and they are correct. My copy zooms smoothly, focuses quickly and accurately, and is more than sharp enough for professional results. Unless you need larger aperture or other focal lengths you are very likely to be eye happy with this lens.

Fantastic lens. Faster auto focus on the Z5 II than the f mount lens. Also a very sharp lens.

I read many great reviews of this lens before I purchased it, so I won't be saying anything that hasn't already been published elsewhere (and probably said better). All I can add is they were right - this is one of the best value lenses out there in terms of cost vs. quality and versatility. The color, quality, and sharpness of this lens hit well above its price point. It is relatively light (at only 630g/~1.4lbs) and that makes for a great walkaround lens. With a compact/light camera body (e.g. something in the Z6 or Z7 range) you could be under 1360g (~3lbs) and cover a wide variety of situations. Pick up a 14-30mm and something like a 100-400 (or related focal range) and you could cover almost any situation with just a few lenses. Maybe working professionals (e.g. a wedding photographer) is going to want faster glass (like primes or a 24-70mm 2.8), but that gets very expensive very fast (and heavier).

With the limitations of the f/4 in low light conditions :s but I knew it when I bought it. Overall very versatile and sharp!!
