Vegetable Crinkle Cutter and French Fry Slicer

I bought this to make my carrots a little more interesting, and found that I'm either really easily fascinated, or this thing's got more uses than you can shake a stick at. It's probably a little of both.I've found that it works wonders on cucumbers, waffle-cut fries, zucchini; literally any hard veggie I throw at it shines. However, it works its magic on many, many more things. I've had luck with hard boiled eggs (cool them well first!), fudge, tofu(!), sheet cake slices, the list is almost endless. So many things to use this little guy on, you're only limited by your imagination.Wine party? Cheese platter. How many cheese platters have you seen with awesome crinkle cuts? None, I know! This one literally makes people double-take and comment. Every time.Usability concerns: Really simple wooden handle firmly attached, edge is mildly sharpened to get at the item you're cutting. The bar on the backside works decently for a little extra pressure should you require it. Hand wash.Get this!

I have had this exact crinkle cutter for several years & use it to cut zucchini slices for veggie / dip platters. I get comments from people wanting to know how I cut them so pretty like that? I also use it to cut fancy carrot slices that I cook in boiling water until tender, add a little butter that will melt and the crinkles hold the butter wonderfully. Then some salt & pepper a couple sprinkles of dried or fresh parsley and the carrots look so appetizing! Play around with this on different things.....whatever you cut needs to have some firmness to it. Nice quality little cutter with a decent wooden handle, has never become dull. I have given one of these to each of my daughters & daughters-in law as well as a couple of friends-------makes a nice little gift!

My kids kept telling me how they love crinkle cut carrots and the like. Okay, that's cool, but how can dad use that knowledge?I found this, and bingo! This is less a knife and more a push-through-er. It's not at all sharp but works just fine to chop carrots with a little pressure, and gives it a great crinkle look. It's easy to clean, easy to use, but feels a bit flimsy, especially at the connection to the handle. I haven't had any issues, but it's not the most sturdy tool in my kitchen by far.

Our son has Chip chop day at school, every Wednesday they clean peel and chop vegetables for Thursday’s soup… I ordered this veggie cutter because it’s the same one he has at school and I wanted to give him practice at home. It’s safer to use then a regular knife and he’s really good at cutting vegetables. Our son is in kindergarten, so I love seeing him develop new skills and be proud of the work that he does.

Works fine if the veg is *super* crisp without being too hard (a very crisp cucumber, for example). But anything even slightly soggy (a less crisp cucumber, an apple going slightly spongy) and anything too dense/hard (like carrots) is next to impossible to cut. Too hard? It’ll go flying and you’ll hurt yourself. Too soft? You’ll bruise and smoosh it until it looks inedible. Great idea, but it needs a sharper/thinner edge.

I was looking to get a new crinkle cutter. It's difficult to know exactly how deeply grooved all the various crinkle cutters are unless you can see them in person. Most other crinkle cutter blades make shorter wavy cuts/ridges. This crinkle cutter has larger/deeper ridges. I have them both. I like them both for different uses. I wish this crinkle cutter didn't have a wooden handle but I like the overall design. I'm posting pictures of a small wavy cutter, this larger ridges cutter and two cut pieces of carrot to show the ridge difference. Hope this help anyone else like me who struggled to know the difference.

My mom had one of these when I was a kid (waaay back in the 50's). This is an amazing little gadget - whether you want to make your carrots look a little fancier or make ridged french fries. Does the work of much higher priced kitchen gadgets.
