So much better than a ramp!
The media could not be loaded. Â I have a nine-year-old overweight dog who recently started having issues jumping into the back of my crossover. I tried a ramp but it was flimsy and would move around when Willy tried using it. Plus, he kept sliding even with a sandpaper texture. Got these steps and he took to them immediately. I have included a video showing how easy it is for my 80 pound dog to use. And the steps are lightweight so easy for me to pick them up. Love these steps!!

Excellent for Large Breed Dog, doesn't take up space and Light Weight.
I've waited over a month to write this review. After searching for ramps and steps I took a chance on the Pet Gear Easy Step II Extra Wide in hope that my dog would be comfortable using it. The specifics are: the dog is a large breed, 112lb 9 month old puppy (Irish Wolfhound) and the car is BMW X5. We stopped lifting the puppy into the back passenger seats at 6 months...she was getting too heavy. However we didn't want her to jump out on her own as the height is over 3 ft. and the tender growing joints could suffer from the constant impact. Also, being a senior, I didn't want something heavy to lift, and expand every time we used it. The ramps also seemed to need extra room at the side of the car, a problem at the tight parking spaces at our dog park. Results are that this product exceeds our expectations. The dog immediately used the steps to simply walk into the car. It took a week or so before she was comfortable walking out unaided. At first, I had to "guide" her to use the step going out...still, no more lifting on our part.Best of all, it's sturdy...our dog will eventually reach 150 +/- lbs and the stairs will easily accommodate her. AND they'll fit at the side of the car within a normal parking space...no extra space needed as for a ramp. AND it's so light that I can lift it into place and store it at back of car with one hand while the other holds the leashed dog.

Works great for my 120 lb American Bulldog!
So, me and my husband recently purchased a king size bed with a bed set and it is a bit higher than our old bed was. We have an, almost 9 year old, 120 lb American Bulldog who always sleeps in bed with us. He is getting older so I don't really want him jumping up and with our new bed he doesn't always make it when he jumps, so i finally had to break down and get some stairs. I did quite a bit of research before settling on this easy step 2, extra wide. There is absolutely no way anything remotely smaller would have worked so I'm glad I got this versus any other one. I'm not going to lie, Dozer (my dog) was very confused by these at first and he still occasionally forgets they are there and how to use them. But I am very pleased with how well he has adapted to these stairs. He gets very proud when he walks up them by himself and we don't have to remind him that he has stairs and doesn't have to try jumping. We've been using these for a while now, maybe about 4-5 months and we have no issues with them. If the cloth pads get dirty then you can just take them off (they are attached with velcro) and put them in your washer! Now, I almost took a star off for how hard it was for me to put the stairs together by myself, but didn't because I was recovering from a torn acl and mcl so I wasn't as tough and couldn't move and bend like I normally can so maybe that was why it was so difficult for me. All in all though, I do highly recommend these stairs and if something does happen to them then I will be buying these same stairs again!

Great alternative to a ramp
We got this for our 12 y.o. 75 lb shepherd mix after she jumped out of the car one day and wrenched her back. I chose these steps over a ramp because I was worried that I wouldn't always be parked somewhere where there was enough space behind the car to use a ramp. With these, you really only need 3 feet or so (less if your dog is willing and able to turn as they step up). With our car (a station wagon) the steps can be used to climb into the cargo area or the back seat and are able to fit in the back seat for storage. The steps are basically hollow on the underside; since we also live in a place that is snowy in the winter, I figure this is actually a plus because you can press them down into the snow to make sure they are steady before the dog has to use them. I don't think they'd be a great idea to use on ice, but neither would a ramp. They were easy to assemble (see other reviewers' posts about lubricating the connections with a little detergent) and easy for our dog to use although we have to guide her with the leash since she still thinks she is spry enough to jump in and out. Finally, I think they will continue to be useful even as she loses more mobility because even if we have to assist her up them, it's still easier than trying to lift her straight into the back.

The stairs fit right behind the driver's truck seat out of the way and although very sturdy they are plastic and so not heavy or hard ...
I use the stairs for my dog so he can get in and out of my truck easier. He has arthritis in his front legs so jumping down is especially hard on him. He waits for me to grab the stairs out of the truck and place them down by the truck door so he can get in or out. The stairs fit right behind the driver's truck seat out of the way and although very sturdy they are plastic and so not heavy or hard to move around. My dog is a large Lab, 110 pounds, and these work great.

Perfect for couch, good for car
I originally bought the Easy Step II Extra Wide to use for my 65lb, 8 year old dog to get in and out of the car better. It worked great for that (he was already using the Easy Step III, 3 steps, max 150lbs, for the bed), but I didn’t realize how big these steps would be. Anything I have to transport I always put in the trunk since the dogs take up the backseat, and these take up about half of the trunk in my 2018 Honda Accord. So I also bought the Pet Gear Stramp Stair and Ramp Combination (1 step, max 175lbs) to see if it was any better for the car, and it’s definitely my favorite. Still very wide but it fits behind the driver seat, I don’t have to open the trunk, and my dog is actually more eager to use it over the stairs. It’s a good height now, and maybe eventually we’ll have to go back to the taller stairs when the gap gets more difficult for him, but right now it’s perfect, and the 2 steps have been great for the couch. I highly recommend anything from this brand.

Excellent for older large dogs
We've been having to lift our 60kg Newfoundland in and out of the car as she suffers from severe arthritis and we've tried ramps, but she would not use them. A friend suggested these steps and we have not looked back, after a few attempts we now no longer have to lift the dog in or out of the car. We wish we had considered using these steps a long time ago. The only downside to them is their size, once assembled, that's it, they do not fold down and cannot be taken apart easily. None the less, these steps have really helped us. Thanks

These steps are amazing 🤩
I bought these steps for my 13 year old arthritic springador. The look of relief on her face when she no longer had to jump into the car was heartwarming. She loves them and I so wish I had bought them sooner 5*

Good for a big gal
We use this with our large, old, dalmatian to get in and out of the car (she won't use a ramp). IT is bulky to cart about, and takes up half the boot (stepway). But this really does help her in and out of the car, and i think was wrth the investment.

Very good and strong.
Very durable and always keep in the back of the car for my dog. I did add extra carpet to the sides of the steps.
