I was looking for a small brush with stiff bristles (most have been too soft and won't go through my hair). This one was priced right, was small, and had very stiff bristles. Reviewers noted that the bristles were hard and hurt their scalps, but I wanted a stiff bristle brush. The bristles are hard enough to hurt your scalp if you aren't careful. I just wish it had more curve to fit my head. I hope the bristles soften-up just a little. But overall, a good value and it was the closest brush I have found that fits my needs.

If you have a hard time finding a hairbrush that actually works for long/thick hair you’ll understand this review. I’ve used my old worn-out hairbrush for many years because I’ve bought many replacements that were useless. Most brushes only “pet” the surface of my hair. This hairbrush is not perfect but it’s going to work. At first it hurt and ripped out my hair. I snipped out many of the bristles. I removed at least two bristles from each tuft. The bristles are STIFF. With some removed, the remaining ones are more individual and pliable and go through my hair to the scalp without ripping it out. The brush is small but that’s okay. I’ll buy another one and snip it also to carry in my purse. I’m so happy now to have a brush that reaches my scalp and actually detangles too.

I have a brush I’ve been using for 40+ years. My mom got it in the 70’s and it’s been my favorite. When I moved out I took the brush with me. It’s from the Prophylactic Company that’s now out of business. I’ve been looking for a replacement for years and haven’t found one that comes close to my old one. Well this new brush is just the thing. Of course 40 years of use will make the bristles softer so when I tried the new one of course it hurt. I have run my fingers through the bristles to try to relax them and make it a little softer. Over time that will happen. So happy to find this brush. This brush is NOT soft but will get softer and more comfortable to use after some time and use. Avon also put out one that’s very similar and that brush my mom still uses! My family jokes about who’s getting the brush when mom dies! Love love love this brush!! I’m happy with the brush and the price. I looked on eBay for the Avon brush and the Prophylactic brush and “used” ones were selling for $50!!! Sooo happy I found this!! For those of you who are looking for a replacement to the one you’ve had for years this is a great one. The bristles are hard so I smashed them on the counter and kept doing that until the bristles started to fan out. I also took my fingers and helped smoosh the bristles. The more you do it and use it the more it’ll become softer. Over time and use the bristles will get softer. I’m so happy I found this brush!!

This hair brush is not a full size brush. It's more like a travel size hair brush. The bristles are super hard, pulls hair and scrapes the scalp. It's a cheap dollar store quality.

I didn't like that is too hard on my scalp.

Have been looking for a brush like this for years - this brush is great for the price. Gave it 4 stars, as I wish the bristles were a tad softer
