The format being different was a wonderful change. I was surprised how much I liked the book.

Very informative.
Easy to follow. Lays out the issue in a logical way explaining how Mildred and Richard, and their children were impacted from day-to-day and year-to-year while the case worked its way through the various courts. I lived through this timeframe! It was happening when I was in middle school and high schools and I knew almost nothing about it. I am glad to be informed about how difficult race relations were for our country then and happy that continuous generations can become informed as our country works toward better race relations.

Gorgeous and Enlightening.
That art, the parallels to history, the poetry, the symbolism....magical.This book is phenomenal, and it really taught me a lot, and I am someone who considers herself to be a history buff when it comes to this time period. This book will be valuable for my students, and at the same time, so enjoyable to read.I loved the artwork and drawings, and I loved how they said things so I had to stop, think, and process, for example, "I think, that's like our life./We're those crows./The wind is casting us around--/go live here,/now you can live there,/now get on over there./You can't control the wind./ They say we're making progress."So worth the purchase and the time to read it.

Loving vs. Virginia - Hatred and Love
“Loving vs. Virginia: A documentary Novel of the Landmark Civil Rights Case” tells the story of two teenagers who fell in love and just wanted to live together as a married couple in peace. Unfortunately, they also wanted to live together as a married couple in Virginia—a crime for an interracial couple.Patricia Hurby Powell effectively tells the story—in alternating verse—of Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving, the interracial couple whose marriage led to the Supreme Courts’ decision to overturn Virginia’s law prohibiting blacks and whites from marrying one another.

Love at its finest!
Such an amazing book. Even better when you come to find out half way through that this is a true story and a history breaker. Hands down my favorite book. Also, very easy to read; The pages are written in poetic writing.

Historic Case for Love
It’s amazing. The Lovings had so much courage and conviction. I am glad to have heard their story. The color of skin should never be an obstacle to love and marriage. Throughout their exile the Lovings never give up.

Just Right for a Special Gift
This is very special for me, the adoptive father of a son (his biological mother was white, his father black) who is in his mid-forties and married to a white woman. When Troy was adopted from the state of Alabama, he could not be adopted by white parents there although that law was soon found unconstitutional. Now Troy is the daddy of a little boy. This Loving case--and the way it is so beautifully rendered in this book--is going to be a Christmas gift to my son.

Such a beautiful love story and match made in heaven
Great story, great narration. Very quick listen. I seem to keep finding so much US history not taught in schools, yet is so significant and so important to our culture and society. If we learned more about people like Mildred and Richard Loving and their amazing families, perhaps we'd be a better country for it. More knowledgeable, more tolerant, and more understanding of each others struggles and triumphs
