it works!, plus some rat intel...
we had an outdoor rat infestation, but are now living rat-free! ... thanks to this Tomcat bait box, as well as the items and measures taken below! ... | observations | • it takes two(2) bait chunks at a time • it is easy to open and load the bait chunks • it has a window to see and monitor the chunks without opening • it is water/outdoor resistant they consumed MOTOMCO rat bait with Bromethalin from these boxes and returned to their nests to perish in a few days... just as claimed! ... the following are things that we learned, in our lil' rat war; | rat intel | • neighborhood activism: get your neighbors involved, as the problem is very unlikely limited to your property... rats eat dog feces and bird seed and just about anything, but, in our neighborhood, it is the theory that they were feeding (or are still feeding) at a neighbor that does not clean up after their dog and living at another neighbor that does not leave their home interior and has let their garage and yard go to squaller…. thus, our yard has become a traffic route and/or playground between these two locations on our street. but it is a city wide problem, as we have learned via nextdoor website for our city… so, neighbor involvement is a must, as you may eliminate them from living, playing, or feeding on your property, but they will still be local and will likely return. if you do not know your neighbors and do not want to do the door-to-door thing, then join nextdoordotcom for your city and post something like "Unwanted Neighbors - Rats!" ... this is how we learned that it is a pervasive, city-wide problem and we are both receiving and disseminating information via this site… though i appreciate that most of us no longer “need” neighbors in this era, you do NEED your neighbors as allies in this war! • multi-front approach: utilize some additional artillery besides bait in bait boxes, such as Victor traps... the Victor traps are tried and true traps, and the most efficient and cost effective means of eliminating rats... they are easy to set & hold with great sensitivity... and, they work! • bait type matters!: as far as bait for bait boxes, Bromethalin is in the bait chunks we are using and is the ingredient claimed to be the best to poison rats. as for trap bait, we first tried peanut butter with no results on the rats, but it resulted in some very unfortunate collateral damage to other rodents... so, we switched to raw bacon, and, while the other rodents are disinterested, the rats can not resist, and snap!, our rat squatter war is slowly being won! so, if it is outdoors, do not use peanut butter, unless you want to risk eliminating chipmunks and squirrels, as well (we do not) ... rather, try raw bacon... here are links to another outdoor rat bait box twin pack, the rat bait we are using, and a good value 12-pack of Victor traps for a 2nd front: • Compact Rat Bait Station TWIN PACK (Bait Not Included) • MOTOMCO Tomcat Mouse and Rat Bromethalin Bait Chunx, 4-Pound • Victor Metal Pedal Rat Trap (Pack of 12) if you want to keep it cheap and simple, then these Victor traps can not be beat, especially in this economical 12 pack. lastly, best wishes to your soon rat-free life…. :-) Thank you.

Effective but be responsible and protect wildlife and pets
just be careful and thoughtful when using this stuff as it is a nerve toxin. Make sure that any wildlife, pets, and kids do not have access. And if you find a dead rat/mouse after using, throw it away in the trash. Birds/Hawks/Eagles, cats or other wildlife that eat the rat can easily be poisoned. Be responsible and try to remove food sources and seal openings to stop the root cause if you can!

OMG?
I have had a family of mice tormenting me in my bedroom for the past year since my cat died. Ive tried sticky traps. I caught about 6 in the first wave with them. Then I bought Victor Mouse Poisen and man did they chow down on that. It wiped out my first wave. About 4 months later I saw another mouse in my bedroom. This time once again I put out Victor and sticky traps. There were about 4 adults they devoured the Victor but were smart to avoid the traps. For months they gobbled the poisen with no effect except it seemed no babies. I tried baking soda and PB, etc etc, finally I bought this. Im not kidding I put this out on 3 paper plates 2 nights ago and I haven't seen or heard one mouse since. I always see them. ALWAYS. So at this point I'm cautiously hopeful that this killed the darn buggers. Now I have to clean up their awful mess. Yuck!!

Perfect for the job
Helped me get rid of the rats, it's powerful and strong, it comes with refills which was useful, after the refill they never finalized the entire bait as they all died. This is highly toxic so use only as described in the instructions, otherwise other animals can eat it and die.

missing key on multiple orders
ordered 2 of these. You need a special key to load bait into the trap inside. No key included! Requested 2 replacements, and only ONE came with a key. The key works with all the bait boxes so only having one key will suffice, but seems like overkill to need to reorder and replace so many times, and for so few to have keys included. Bait boxes are useless unless there’s a key after all. Keys are taped to the inside of the box on the top lid too small for rats the size of squirrels or guinea pigs

High quality and reliable
High quality rodent control that is very reliable. Well made to ensure only rodents can access the bait. The plastic is durable and not easy to break. It is very effective at managing pest control.
