The longest objective lens is the 40X lens; it is the only objective lens that can touch a glass slide when the stage is moved up. Moving the stage up too far, the user will find that the glass slide will touch the 40X lens. However the tip of the 40X lens does retract 3 mm, minimizing the possibility of damage to the glass slide. I have not broken a glass slide yet with the SW200DL. **Q: Can a dslr camera be fitted to the head to take photos? thanks** A: You’d need to buy or build an adapter. There are components that you can buy which will replace your dslr’s lens with a spacer, and then you can add an attachment to that, if building your own. I knew there are so many bad products, but you can't fault a jade with its dots. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Pretty good but could be better *by N***E on 15 September 2022* I brought this item and was quite pleased with its magnification and sturdy construction. It looks good and generally feels good quality. But I feel it could be made better. For a start, the plastic insert of the lifting handle wobbles when it should be tightly fitted. The top light isn't bright enough, and is in the wrong position, as the lenses put the specimen that's on the slide in the shade. This makes it harder to see the details of the objects. If the top light was in a better position this wouldn't happen. The metal pointer doesn't seem to have any reason for being there other than getting in the way. But it is quite easy to remove it from the eyepiece. When I try to use the largest magnification lense, it cannot focus with 2 slides because the lense hits the slide. Because I brought a known make of Swift, I was expecting to see some kind of emblem. But instead, they've just put on a little paper sticker saying Swift. And finally, on a positive note, I was pleased to see that the light can be plugged into a USB port. But there was no mention of this in the items description. Having said all that, we have been very pleased looking at insects, etc..
