This is the best cargo box I’ve ever owned. I’ve tried several of the years that were either too small, flimsy, something would break or otherwise would age too quickly. I needed a cargo box to put on a cargo carrier rack attached to a hitch on an off road vehicle. This box is tough, large enough to carry all of my camping gear, hiking and fishing gear and it’s easily locked when you’re away in the woods. Great product, wished I found it sooner.

I bought this because I needed a tool box for the bed of my Tacoma but did not want to spend hundreds of dollars on a metal tool box that would get in the way of a bed cover or my aftermarket bed bars, which all of the ones at the hardware stores would. I also needed it to be deep enough to fit all of my stuff which again, most of the ones at the hardware stores were pretty shallow. I found this and decided to give it a shot. First off, the box is plastic but is texturized very well and feels like really good, heavy duty plastic. Kinda like a pelican case but a bit thinner. I have no issues with flex or cracks even loaded down. I can literally sit on this no problem. The texturizing would go very well with many bedliners people have, very similar to rhinoliner or linex. The lid hinges are good, no issues with that. The lockable hinges on the front are standard ones you can find at a hardware store for crafts/sheds. They are metal but im sure you could break them if you really wanted in. Provide your own padlocks and get good ones. The lid is very thick and sturdy. There is a lip around the inside under the lid, when the lid shuts, this lip seats under the lid's overhang which helps against water ingress. I never had any issue with water going into this but just for peace of mind, I added some 3m weatherstripping to the lid so the lip sits against that when closed. Not needed but just for safe measure. Its pretty waterproof as is. Great case for leaving outdoors and in general I think its better than those metal toolboxes. Even has little hand holds molded into the side edges. Now onto retrofitting it for my Tacoma. I bought the 6.3 cubic feet one. Let me just say this is a perfect fit for the bed of my Tacoma. It fits perfectly widthwise. I drilled four holes from the inside rear so I can attach a bolt through the back and bolt it to my rail system in the bed. I bought t-slot nuts made for the Tacoma's rail system and was able to perfectly attach this to that rail with bolts going through from the inside. The height is almost perfect but because I am bolting it a little higher to attach it to my rails, I took two 2x4's and cut them about a foot length each. Then I wrapped them in rubber matting I bought at a home depot. I bolted the 2x4's through the bottom of the toolbox to position it a little higher so I can clear my bed rails and open the lid while bolted on those rails. This way, the weight of the box rests on those 2x4s instead of hanging a few inches short from the bottom and stressing the plastic. Literally perfect now. My ONLY gripe with this box is I wish the lid had some kind of mechanism to stay open. Because its bolted against my truck's bed, I cant open the lid too far. Might fit some struts on it to help with that. Overall, the best toolbox for these Tacomas in my opinion. Im very happy.

Good value for the price. Ordered 2 to use as dock boxes with a covered slip. As others have noted there is an issue with the hasps being both tight and recessed so that getting a grip to open can be a challenge. I solved the problem using an inexpensive drawer pull knob. With an additional nut, the supplied bolt has enough stand off not to interfere with the latch.

I bought the 4.6 CF model to fit in my Toyota Tacoma bed like several other reviewers here. Overall I'm super pleased with the value and I believe this box will last for many years. I did take the advise of one of the other reviewers and added weather stripping for a better overall seal, and added struts to keep the lid open when needed. I bought the 15" (10lbs) struts on Amazon from Pamagoo and they work perfectly!

I think this is what I have been looking for, a heavy duty plastic container that I can make water resistant and strong enough to deter potential thieves. Additional: Measurements: in inches Outside: Bottom: 18.5 wide by 41.25 long Top: 19 wide by 44.5 long The total heigth 17.0 Inside: 18.0 wide by 41.0 long by 15.25 to the top of the lip. Top: double thickness and appears to have a black foam core to make it more ridge. I stood on it with my 200lbs. It is 2.25 thick at the lip and 1.0 thick inside the lip. 17.0 by 42.0 on the inside. The body is approximately 0.125 thick and presses directly on the flat inside of the lid following the shape of the tops overhang. I expect it to be water resistant to direct rainfall but as I intend to expose it to being pulled behind a motorcycle I will install a flat rubber seal where the bottom meets the top or find something better if it fails to keep the rain out. I'm going to use this as the basis of a solo-wheel motorcycle cargo trailer. It's frame will have sufficient structure to support about one hundred pounds of glamping gear when my spouse travels with me. Looks large enough to even carry a small cooler. The walls of it look to be twice the thickness of most house storage containers. Its also advertised for pickup bed storage. The lid is double wall and just needs a rubber seal to improve water resistance if exposed to the weather. I'll be finding out if I need to pack it using dry bags. I plan on repainting the black top a more reflective color to reduce its heat absorption. It was attractively priced and the shipping free. It arrived in less than a week. I should have a working trailer for my BMW R75 by the end of the summer.

Fits the 3rd gen Tacoma truck bed between the wheel wells perfectly like a pelican case. Good weather proofing and quality. The locks are nice too little small but strong.

Put this on a jet ski trailer. Pros are that it fit and bolted exactly where I wanted it to. It’s made fairly well. It’s keeps water out. Cons are in the heat the lid has warped a little. The clips to hold the lid are a pain to open. I actually ended up cutting and bending a piece of them so that you have something to grab ahold of to open it.

Box is just ok, certainly not worth $200. I would say for $100 it would be good. Plastic is on the cheap/flimsy side. I got it because it is not made in china, fit in the back of my jeep and was black/lockable. I’ve got it bolted in and using for tool storage (compressor, jack, impact and sockets. It’s hold a decent amount of things but could probably be 6” wider. I’m going to keep it as I’ve drilled holes in it but I’m not overly impressed for the cost

Tough, sturdy truck box. Fits nicely under my tonneau cover as well. Locks on front. Only negative is no hooks on side to tie it down inside box.

Never commented on a purchase before... pay it forward I guess, huh? Prior to purchasing, I knew I had to find a box which I might modify to allow me to open the lid of the box in the back of my SUV. I might have gone with a popular aluminum box solution, but the width dimension of this box fit my need perfectly. The cargo area of my SUV tapers towards the top preventing a rectangular-shaped box/lid from opening to any significant extent. The lid is a rigid double-walled plastic, corrugated on the underside to provide enhanced sturdiness. Knowing that I would have to compromise the sturdiness (and security) of the box, I cut the front corners of the lid with an angle grinder. Sanding down the edges and melting the rough cut edges with a heat gun (to smooth it out), the box now opens an additional 6" in the back of the SUV - more than enough extra to access the tools I keep stored in the box. An additional hole in the lid allows me to tie the lid open with a small bungee. The lid and overall structure remains sturdy (I won't be standing on it), and the opening at the corners from the cut is acceptable for my use. The locking latches, of course, remain intact. In it's unmolested form (and even with my hack job) the box could easily/comfortably sit two taking a lunch break. It ain't pretty, but it's better than my previous configuration; and it serves as a reminder that I should have chosen a pickup truck over marriage. Hope this helps anyone confronted with a similar challenge.
