My house was built in the '50s (like me). The rooms are oddly shaped, and the windows are all looooooong custom things that take up entire walls. There is also not much light. I wanted something to cover only the bottom part of the window and leave the top open so I could get some sun. I also needed something that would still allow my cats access to the windows. The vertical blinds were not doing the job, and due to the length of the window, I had to use 3 separate sets - or pay a fortune for a custom size. I saw these, and knew they would do the job. They're even prettier than in the pictures, and they work brilliantly! I know they're café curtains, and meant to be hung at the top, but they're even better at the bottom. This way I get both light and privacy.

I got these curtains to block out the light from the window in my bedroom, and they do a really good job! The fabric is nice quality and very soft. I also like that they come with matching cloth straps to tie the curtains back.
