I had never dyed my hair until recently. I got highlights and was told that purple shampoo was important to use in order to help keep the blonde color which I why I got this shampoo. Since I'm a 1st time user, I wasn't sure what to expect or how to use. I was disappointed because there were no directions on the bottle therefore I used the shampoo like normal. I do feel like it did help get rid of some of the yellow coloring in my highlights that I started noticing but not all areas. I later learned that you should let the purple shampoo sit in your hair for 5-20 min. I have yet to try leaving it on my hair for a longer period of time, but I do think it will be helpful. Like I said I have seen a nice improvement just from letting it sit in my hair for just a minute.

I got this for my mom who lives with us. She loves purple shampoo for her gray hair. After using this a few times, it's safe to say this isn't her favorite purple shampoo. She said she has to use quite a lot to get it worked up in her short hair and it's not easy to rinse out. She does love the light scent, though, and her hair feels clean afterwards. It's okay, but not sure if she'd buy it again.

I followed the directions already knowing how to use these products, I have been in the industry for decades. I know about dyes, tints, perms, colors, shampoos, conditioners, combos, mousses, sprays, waxes, oils, and....wow, I wonder if Neandertals had good hair...and..countess things about both human and animal hair. I have used these exact shampoos on both people and dogs and cats for the same reasons. But...I am hair-obsessed. Just about mine. Well, about everyone! I am the guy that notices when you didn't pay attention to the BACK OF YOUR HAIR and think no now is the wiser. Everyone is, none more so than me. I also notice hair color. With the fact that one can successfully treat and color their hair from a dollar store, yes, they can, I always wonder why good hair is not included in everyone. Hair, the frame for the face, if you have it....hair, not the face. So, frame the gang thing!My frame happens to be platinum blonde with ever-so-sneaky ultra-light golden blonde here and there, and even some darker, and flat-out gray! GRAY! The nerve! But it all depends on the lighting. As we know. Aside from that, my hair is very fine and thing, not thinning, I have a masterfully full head of hair. And I have to blow dry it, make sure I do not use big conditioning anything, none at all, or I have Cher hair. From the '60's, flat!In under 4 minutes, using by far less than a 1/2 teaspoon, not much at all, my hair turned a more even platinum, which I liked, but it will not hold a bend with my brush and drier. So, until it springs back to life, I have to wear a hat or feel uncomfortable. Told ya, hair-obsessed! It is as smooth, limp, flat, and lifeless as could possibly be. And I hate that. But my hair is different, and I am picky. Additionally, the platinum color I naturally have was somewhat darker and still is.Believe it or not, I highly recommend this product. That's why I gave it 5 stars. But I just cannot use it other than maintenance to improve color, which it does, and not when I have to go anywhere. I think it is a really, really great product and you have to understand my hair is just ...different. This stuff really does work and in many great ways and I mean that completely!
