Works very well
I use this indoors for various "stealth" antennae solutions, so I can't speak to mobile uses.As a condo-dwelling ham, I've found this mount to be quite valuable. I can slap it on a steel shelf or refrigerator for a ground-plane, and use a 1.25M or two-metre 1/4-wave whip. I've also put it on an old stereo with a steel cabinet and used a dual-band loaded whip. And I've put it on top of a metal paint can with a UHF 1/4-wave whip.Even though it has rubber on the bottom, you should be aware that *all* mag-mounts will affect the finish of your vehicle's paint job over time.Like all Browning mounts, the NMO threads are not shallow. Some whips may leave a space at the bottom, even when fully screwed in. All Browning antennae will be fine, however. The cable is good quality. The mount is well-plated; it won't easily scratch off.

The best Mag Mount there is
I have tried other brands before, but I prefer the Browning NMO Mag Mount. Once it is mounted, it does not move. Mine did not come with a rubber base like the other brands I used before. That rubber base is supposed to prevent scratching. Well it doesn't. The rubber non slip pad actually lessens the magnetic bond between the antenna and the metal of your car, so that causes the mount to move, scratching your roof. This has not moved since I installed it, even gong freeway speeds. Excellent SWR as well.****UPDATE March 3, 2013****When I initially installed the mag mount, I did not check the SWR readings. I just did and it was 3:1! And also the power of my 25 watt radio was only showing 5 watts on the wattmeter. I am really thankful that I have not damaged my radio yet. My initial suspicion was the mag mount cable and connectors. I tested it for a short using a a multimeter for continuity, and there was no short, and there was continuity.I tried several things during the course of a couple of days, but I could not find any problem that would cause high SWR. Then I decided to try something. I had installed the mount 12-13 inches away from the edge of the rear section of the roof of my car. I moved it now to the center of the roof. I tested it and the SWR went from 3:1 to 1.4:1! Then on testing the power, it now shows that it is putting out 20-22 watts. Huge difference. That goes to show how important the placement of the Antenna is on the car. You cannot just assume that it is ok, you actually have to test your placement using an SWR meter to be sure you have it set to the best and safest setting. If you do not have one, you can get one here. I bought the MFJ SWR Cross needle meter that handles UHF. I also have a Workman 104 SWR meter just to double check the initial reading on the other meter. They are fairly close.I hope this helped you.

Like the mount, not the coax
The coax has a center braid instead of solid copper wire. The connector I am installing has a tiny needle point center and it will only take a solid copper wire.

Pretty Good
I use this mag mount for many different radios. I have this set up to work on a CB (10-11) meter radios, ham radio (tri-band) and have an antenna for Business Band (UHF-VHF) "I know ham and business are about the same" Thismag mount gets a work out from me. works well when you dont want to buy several mag mounts when you can just unscrew the antenna and remount the ones you want to use

Worked ok for a year or so, then the bottom rotted out and left a rust stain on top of my truck.

High Quality, Solid Mount, Paint Safe
I purchased this to go with the BROWNING BR-180 Amateur Dual-Band Mobile Antenna and it has worked wonderfully. The mount holds very strong even at highway speeds, and holds on tight even with minor hits to the antenna. The cable is sufficient to run just about anywhere through a vehicle with some length to spare, and the finish on the mount is high quality. The teflon pad on the back of the mount helps to prevent any damage to paint or vehicle, and the connection is very tight with the antenna, so there is no wobble. An additional connector will be necessary for most hand-held radios and some mobile radios. Since I use a handheld (Yaeus VX-8DR) a SMA-BNC on the radio and a BNC-PL259 works well to allow me to rapidly disconnect/reconnect to the antenna with minimal wear on the SMA connector on the HT.Very please with this purchase overall, and the ability to swap antennas in the future will be very handy.

Works great but not very durable
Works great but doesn't last long if doing a lot of hard off roading... If your using as a daily driver then it'd be perfect

Solid mount with a very strong magnet
I bought this mount to use with the Browning BR-180 2 meter antenna I bought. The mount is very solid and well built, with good quality coax and an incredibly strong magnet. The mount comes with 17 feet of RG58 coax, and was easy to install. I can drive at highway speeds with the 37 inch long Browning antenna screwed onto the mount, and it stays put perfectly. I wanted a strong mount because of the long (over three feet) antenna I was using, and this one does the job perfectly.Worth the price if you want a quality, sturdy mag mount.
