Is this watertight? some reviews say it is, one says it is not. I want it for heating water on a sauna stove.

I find that it is watertight, although the metal is not heavy gage, and I think maybe not suitable for holding up under high heat

can this be spray painted? or must be primed first? or neither?

Although galvanized metals will take paint, it will not stay on very long. This is particularly true if they will be kept outside. One thing that will help is first use 0000 steel wool on the surface to be painted, rinse very well, allow to dry then spray the portion to be painted with white vinegar and all it to air dry completely. Then you can prime & paint. The long term result is still the same. The paint will eventually peel off.

It is the size of a bushel which equates holding 56 lbs of corn or 32 lbs of oats. Guessing on the dimensions about 18 inches tall and almost 24 inches in diameter at the top.
