Nutrition and Dietetics: Practice and Future Trends

I'm not sure if I'm reviewing the 3rd edition which I bought (don't do it), or the book in general, so I'm giving 5 stars for the book in general...The book is GREAT but I just want to say that if you're considering an older edition, don't! You NEED a newer one because many things have been updated. This 3rd edition still uses the old name "The American Dietetic Association (ADA)" which changed in 2012 to "The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)". If you just want an overview of the field, fine, but if you need this for school/career like I did, get one at least made after 2015 if possible.The content itself is FANTASTIC. I learned a bit about the history of the field, and lots of possibilities for future work in nutrition, all arranged in short chapters that are each digestible in one comfortable sitting. It actually made me proud to be going into the field of dietetics, and helped me feel connected to all the women who came before me and their great efforts to change food-related laws and practices in order to help people. For example, hospital food about a hundred years ago was "mush and beer" with no vegetables. Nurses noticed that patients responded better when given vegetables... together with cooking schools, nurses & cooks experimented and started a new field... dietetics. This book gave me a sense of pride, in them and in myself. :-)

Everything you need to know about the field of nutrition whether you're looking into pursuing nutrition, dietetic technician, or dietitian this book is a great tool to use.

Although I bought this book for a course, it was an awesome read!

I had to have this book for my Nutrition major in college. It contains a lot of statistics, but it's an easy read. It's quite informative.
