Waste of Money
Do your research before you buy. This review is based on the first 7 chapters of the book.Pros: Each chapter has a "Two Minute Drill" which helps to reinforce concepts, and a 25 question Quiz with a decent job explaining the answers.Cons: Each chapter Follows the PMBOK; however, many times you have to hunt down the Outputs for each process are or where the Tools/Techniques are written.I've noticed numerous errors in the book, and have looked on their website to see if they've been addressed, answer - Noex. Under "Exam Watch" on pg 384 he confuses Enterprise Environmental Factors with Organizational Process Assets. On Pg 400, the EAC Formula is wrongOn Pg 401, the ETC Formula mis-identifies ETC as EACThen there's the CD that accompanies it. There's ONE Master Exam on the disc, the other has to be downloaded, the "One hour of Video Training" is lacking at best. Oh, they do give you a 'free' copy of the Book as a .pdfBottom line: Do your research, there's better study guides out there that actually provide you with decent online support (some even give you access to their training for a few days so you can earn your 35hrs of training if you don't have it already. Pass on this book.

Worst instructional book I've ever read
I realize that part of the problem with PMP books is the PMBOK subject area itself. Still, this book is incredibly bad. It was a required text for a course I'm taking, but was so bad that I gave up after 250 pages and bought another book, PMP: Project Management Professional Exam Study Guide , instead. The two main problems are the extreme repetitiveness and the presentation of abstract concepts, common sense, and even tautologies as if they were meaningful, practical knowledge. It's hard to give examples of repetition since it only surfaces after one has read something for the 10th or 20th time. How many times do we have to be told that stakeholders are important, or that changes will come up and have to be handled, or that expert judgment means using people who know more than you do? But some writing examples include:"The project is the first step in requirements gathering, because it paints the high-level objective of the project.""Projects move through product-oriented processes to create the project's product."It's not worth detailing more examples. Before buying this book, you should get a good dose from the sample provided by Amazon. Check out PMP: Project Management Professional Exam Study Guide instead. I would only give it 3 stars, but it's still a lot better than this book. PMP: Project Management Professional Exam Study GuidePMP: Project Management Professional Exam Study Guide

Very helpful, easy read for PMP prep. Includes CD for author videos and exams.
This book was a life saver for taking the PMP, just took the PMP and passed all sections with Proficient rating. I could not get through the PMP official PMBOK, but was able to read this. It is very well written, with normal person language. It gives you hints for exams and for real life. The questions in the self-tests and the master exam are very similar to the PMP exam.

I really like this book
I really like this book, a great compliment to PMP courses. The questions at the end of each chapter are good for learning the concepts and the practice exam is good for preparing you for the level of difficulty of the PMI exam and the way the questions are written.
