Mint’s Colorful Life Large Kite for Kids and Adults, Easy to Fly Single Line Beach Kites, Comes with 300ft String Handle

We flew this Kite at the Kite Festival in DC, 2022. It is a beautiful Kite, and stood out. It is also easy to put together and take apart. It really wanted to get soaring as it lifted immediately into the air on this nice windy day. We had no issues with flying it and we are very new at flying kites. One of the tails came off before it flew for the first time, but that's a minor problem.

I don't know a thing about how this holds up as a kite, because we used it as an alebrije for a Dia de Muertos community event. It fit our needs and added a very colorful addition that the kids loved to look at! It was nicely packaged and seemed durable. Looks like it would be a great item and does what it's meant. to do.

Not a measly little kite! This kite is great quality and flies very high. I got this for my 7 year old did not disappoint.

I ordered this kite for my two kids. We've had some windy days, lately, & we have a lot of nice, clear, flat land on our property, which I thought would be perfect for kite flying. For starters, the kite is beautiful. The colors are exactly as pictured. The phoenix design is really cool. When I tried to assemble the kite, I quickly realized it would be impossible to fit both the rods they provide for the spine. There is a rod sewn into the center of the kite that you are supposed to attach the spine rods & wing rods to but the spine rods are all too long to be able to fit properly as the instructions show. I had make a cut in the cloth and only used one of the spine rods in order to make it work. Both of the wing rods fit perfectly. Once I got it outside, I played around with it for about 20 minutes & could only get it up for a short time. I then let my 11 year old son play with it & he didn't fair much better. When I let my 5 year old daughter have a go, it took her all of 3 minutes before she had it way up. I couldn't believe how well she did for her first kite. We kept that thing up in the air for almost an hour. I have never been able to make a kite fly like she did. When I finally decided to bring it in, I was reeling it in for about 15-20 minutes. Then, the wind pulled the string handle right from my hands & the kite flew up into some trees. (The horror!) I reeled it up as much as I could and tried to get the kite loose but it was caught much too high. I finally had to cut the string & let it go. Fortunately, about an hour later, the wind worked it loose and it came back down to the ground. The remaining string hadn't tangled and I was able to gather it up. I should be able to tie the two ends of string back together and fly it again. The tails of the kite are a bit frayed but otherwise intact. Aside from the fact that we almost lost it, this has been great fun for my family.

Easy to assemble and fly. Bright colors and beautiful design. Fun for a day at the beach. It held up to the wind and will use it again.

The good news: I now only buy kites from this brand, Mints. All others have not worked so well for me (shredding nylon, broken fiberglass, etc). This kite is also stunning in the air! The trick, however, is to actually get it in the air. This particular shape of kite seems to work best in a stronger wind than a traditional delta. But this kite has consistently struggled to get high in the air without zigging and zagging. I consider it erratic. It’s crashed twice with no damage, but it’s just not as easy for me to fly and is frustrating enough that I usually leave it at home. My daughter would live the flamingo 🦩 one, but I’m worried it will function the same as this one.

I flew this kite the day after it arrived. It was easy to assemble and flew beautifully once the wind picked up. I did upgrade the kite string reel as it comes with a pretty standard one you see on most kites so I cannot speak to the quality of the reel that comes with the kite.

Meine Tochter ist 5 und seit gut 3 Jahren gehen wir in unserer windigen Region regelmäßig unseren Drachen steigen lassen. Nachdem wir bisher immer nur so günstige Drachen hatte die immer nur 1 Saison gehalten haben, wurde es dieses Jahr dieser Phönix und ich bin mir schon jetzt sehr sicher, dass er deutlich länger halten wird als die anderen davor. Er wird in einer praktischen Tasche geliefert und mit etwas Geschick, passt er da nach dem Vergnügen auch wieder rein. Bedarf aber Übung. Der Drachen selbst ist farblich sehr ansprechend, sauber verarbeitet und wirkt vom Material sehr robust. Das Gestänge lässt sich leicht verbinden, anstecken und wieder zerlegen. 2 negative Punkte sind mir aufgefallen: 1. Er ist sehr laut. Beispielsweise reagiert der Hund von Freunden, die dabei waren, sehr ängstlich darauf. Sollte man vllt bedenken. 2. Die Schwanzfedern sind einzeln anzubringen mittels Klettverschluss (das funktioniert gut). Außerdem sind sie verstärkt durch etwas dickere Kunststofffolie und genau diese hat sich bereits bei der 1. Verwendung gelöst. Sie funktionieren trotzdem, aber es ist halt irgendwie schade. Sonst ist er wirklich hübsch und robust. Wer sich also für diesen Drachen entscheidet macht, meiner Meinung nach, also nichts falsch, muss aber evtl. mit der Lautstärke und diesem Problem der Schwanzfedern rechnen. Von mir gibt's trotzdem 5 Sterne vorallem weil das Kind ihn super findet und die Handhabung handelsüblich leicht ist.
