I've kept aquariums for many years, and have owned many gravel/sand vacuums. This one is my absolute favorite. It is the perfect size for my Waterbox 20 gallon Cube saltwater aquarium. Every vacuum I've owned has caused spills at one time or another, especially when trying to start the siphon. With the hand primer it is super easy and spill free to start a siphon. Also the included clip is nice to keep the hose from coming out of the bucket. That being said, I ended up securing the hose to the clip with a zip tie as it can come loose. At first I was having issues with the primer not starting a siphon but found that if I disassemble and flush with tap water each time after using it works fine. There are two small check valves, one in the hose fitting and one in the inlet that I flush with tap water, if these get gummed up the hand primer won't work. Also make sure not to lose the two small clear o rings in the fittings when flushing.

I also use this to empty out my dishwasher filter compartment. Very easy to work and the suction is excellent.the clip to the bucket broke though

I bought this to help clean my 10 gallon, shallow (about 4 or so inches) water aquarium. I'm pleased to report that it works really well for partial water changes once you get it going. In fact, make sure that you can keep an eye on how much it's taking out because it can go pretty fast!Like most things, it's not perfect. While it's great for water removal, it's not that great for waste removal around a thin layer of gravel. Up until this point I have been using a turkey baster w/bulb to remove the waste from the bottom of the tank (which works great by the way for a very small tank!). But the turkey baster a pain in the ass for a 10 gal tank and I was hoping that this thing would be able to replace it. Unfortunately, I stillm have to go back in with the turkey baster even after using this thing.In addition, it can be tricky at times to get this vacuum going, requiring multiple pumps of the bulb and/or playing around with position and angle.The biggest thing is I would note is that the filter is not perfect for preventing very small fish from being sucked up. In my case, I am caring for frog tadpoles that are about 10 days old and, just yesterday, a couple of them were sucked out along with the water and into the catch bucket. Therefore, I have learned to be very diligent about checking the dirty water before pouring it out.

This is a perfect cleaning rig for a 20 gallon tall tank. The bulb to initiate the syphon works great. Hose is a little smaller than you want for a large tank but is perfect for smaller and heavily planted tanks. Comes with all the accessories needed. Materials used are quality and durable. Good buy for your money. Recommended.

I've lost count how many gravel cleaning contraptions I've purchased. MAny of these gravel cleaners are not suitable for nano tanks. Well this one finally met expectations. Sorta. Small enough to navigate through small tanks without sacrificing the suction. The gravel cleaning was very easy and nice that the gravel didn't get sucked up into the hose. The sand vacuuming attachment was easy to use and I loved that again, the suction wasn't sacrificed. I also like that you can adjust the water flow in case you don't mean to do a large water change. The bulb was easy to pump to get the suction activated. The only fallacy with the unit is once the water gets to a certain level the suction stops. So I guess the workaround is to clamp the hose so that not a lot of water is suctioned before you finish cleaning your substrate. Overall satisfied with this device but looking for one that can really seal the deal.

The aquarium gravel vac looked great taking it out of the package. High quality plastics, assembled easily, looks to be durable, but operation was a total let down. So glad I got a chance to use it before the return window closed. Never have I gotten as much water on the floor or struggled as much to clean the tank. The primer bulb situated at the top of the tool makes the overall length difficult to manage. Can't see what the gravel vac is doing if I stand high enough on the stool to manage the tool. It has a check valve but seems to function poorly so hard to prime and need to manually pinch the hose closed between pumps. The tool has this odd angle where the hose connects which means the tool cannot go lower than the highest part of the aquarium so you can't reach inside a partially drained aquarium for better control. Shut off clamp included does not clamp off the flow. Which is actually good because if it did the leak in the hose connection somewhere near the top of the tool would break the siphon. Even the bucket clamp was hard to make stay attached and trying to re-prime the tool midway due to the leak squirts water everywhere.

I got this vacuum to replace a very old one which was full of algae. I immediately liked this one for its ability to be reassembled and washed properly after reach use. The ability to control the flow manually is ideal. Especially for me, as I have a substrate with shrimp in one of my aquariums and would not want to suck everything into the tube along with the debris. Great product and amazing price. Definitely a great buy!

Aquarium placed above my shoulders made water changes a bit more difficult, this has great length and is modular for different needs making it much easier to work with.

Easy to put together and use. Easy to take apart and flush afterwards (watch the little white washers inside some of the pieces though). So far it has been excellent to clean with. For a small tank the suction is alright. The tubing is nice and long so reaches drainage basin or sink. The gravel only gets sucked up so far and a couple of movements it falls back down. It is quite durable.

Compre esta aspiradora para supuestamente hacer la succión del agua mas facil pero era muy complicado aplicar presion a la bomba y que el agua no avanzara por la manguera. Despues de 2 dias de uso, la bomba dejo de jalar agua, me imagino se escapo el aire por algun lado de la bomba. Mejor hubiese comprado un siphon regular. No lo recomiendo para nada.

Was looking for a better tool to clean my fish tank and this one does the job! Easy to set up and use and cleans the tank great!

Works well cheap plastic. Don’t think it will last long
