Wonderful Game
I love this game because of the simplicity. A lot of people have moved on to Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 & 3. I tried them, but I still love this one the best. It's personal preference, so I can understand if you want the newer versions. However, the graphics are great, and this one is design with intricate details, but it's simple to use it. I like the variety of landscapes, rides, etc. One thing I do not like is the fact that once people are bored with a certain ride, it's like the people in the game, will avoid it like the plague...that can be annoying for the maintenance of the park. One technical thing I do not like about this game, is that it is not compatible with newer computers, so you have to install a patch, which can sometimes result in you having to install unwanted toolbars and pop-up ads. Overall, this game is a great buy.

Classics are still awesome
So to all those people that have had this game or want to play it for the first time i say this to you. This game is still awesome despite how old it may be its still fun and once you get into it its hard to stop playing. i have gone at least 5 to 6 straight playing it and i truly enjoy it. but then again i have loved this game for a long time and the only reason i got a semi new copy was because i misplaced my old one. so no matter what is said about this i well tell you this it is a great game if your looking to pass the time and like building roller coasters.

My Favorite Game
If you want to have almost an endless good time playing a game, purchase the original Roller Coaster Tycoon. I have Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 and 3 also, but I definitely like the original the best. The game starts out with 5 scenarios - different sizes and shapes of park land - with different goals for each park. As you complete each objective, a new park is unlocked, so you always have 5 new parks to choose from. Two examples of goals are: “To have 250 guests in your park at the end of October, Year 1,” and “To achieve a park value of at least $20,000 at the end of October, year 3.” It also has a tutorial. There are many types of rides from ferris wheels to log rides to giant roller coasters - already designed or you can design your own. It is great fun and can be addictive!

Sweet, sweet nostalgia
I loved this game when I was a kid and wanted to play the same game again, but was worried about it not working on my Windows 7 computer. Much to my relief, it works fine! I had to do a little bit of messing around to get it to work (had to find the game application, go to compatibility and set operating system to Windows 98, and check disable visual themes, disable desktop composition, and run this program as administrator) but once I did that, it installed, started up, and runs just fine. Occasionally, while scrolling over the park, the game will freeze up a bit, but beyond that, I haven't had any issues. As for the game itself, it's fun. It's what you want it to be--if you want to think, plan, and create the perfect park in order to beat the goals, then you can do that. If you want to cause chaos and destruction to the hapless guests at your park, you can do that, too. There's also not really an "end" to the game, necessarily. Even after you reach all the goals, you can keep improving (or start destroying) your parks. There are a few small issues with the game--first off, it didn't come with a manual, but that's not THAT big of a deal since you can find instructions for the game on most gaming websites. As for the game itself, there are some issues with the visuals. Not necessarily the graphics--if you keep in mind that the game was made in the late 90s, then they're fine--but the angles make doing some things a bit awkward, especially once the park gets crowded. The controls take a bit getting used to, but the learning curve isn't so bad. The "funness" of the game mostly comes from how addicting it is. It's not particularly thrilling and while it can be amusing, it's not necessarily funny, either. I don't like it as much as an adult quite as much as I liked it as a kid, but it's still a game I'm glad to have in my collection.

Windows 7 Users Read Here
Most have been asking if this product works for windows 7, Well I have windows 7 and have had this game for a week and absoutely love it! I loaded the disc in my lap top and took a second to load then I installed it. The graphics are great expect when saving it goes fuzzy back to the OLD windows 98 computer graphics. However once you save the game graphics go back to normal.Game can be slow at times but its only a few seconds. I can play the game a solid 2 hours for my lap top before battery dies, however my lap top does not tell so I save and exit the game and check on my battery. Hope this message helps future people before buying the game for windows 7. Happy playing this ADDICTING super fun game. :)

That’s fine, I needed a reason to replace that drive
Looked forward to getting this game. Reviewed it shrink wrapped. “Perfect, brand new.” I thought. Popped it in however and my disk drive wouldn’t read it. That’s fine, I needed a reason to replace that drive. 20 minuets later and a replacement drive now installed, the drive found the disk! But when I clicked on it, it said the drive isn’t located. This was odd to me. I tested a few other games and it read them fine. Put the game back in and I got the same result. So I grabbed my Surface Pro and an external disk drive and test it on there. Sure enough, it says my disk is corrupted. Wonderful. So I come back to amazon to return it and lo-and-behold, it’s not eligible for return. Lovely. So I’m down $13 and stuck with a worthless disk.

Really Fun!!! little problem though
I ordered this because I lost my old CD a long time ago and I wanted to play it. It is really fun making your own roller coasters and such. the graphics are a little outdated but it doesn't impede the experience. Previous to buying this game i switched computers and my new (actually older) one will not allow me to access save files and sometimes quits the game showing an error code. It is a Windows professional, im not sure what year, very old OS though. But if you don't have that then this game will be a blast!

I used to play this game back in the early 2000s. Bought this game recently to re-live my nostalgia. Came in perfect condition and worked so well. Awesome purchase!

Even with all of the high-tech, incredibly realistic and dramatic games available today, this is still one of my favorites. It's simple, easy to learn and play, and has fun challenges. I have enjoyed this game for years and finally bought another copy when I lost my own. Really a great game, ESPECIALLY for first coming free in cereal boxes!

Used to play this game for hours on end as a kid, and I'm just as addicted again! It's not overly complicated to learn, either, so good for passing the time.
