The great thing is that I'm not exposed to toxic plastic through contact with boiling water. Another nice thing is that there is very little sediment in the coffee cup. The sediment is slightly more than with a paper filter. I don't have to buy coffee filters. The biggest negative seems to be that I have to pour the hot water little by little manually. For example, if you're brewing 10 cups of coffee, it could take over 5-10 minutes of attention pouring little by little. If I poured the water to the top, water will probably drain out of the filter above the coffee grinds, so I have to pour enough water on top of the coffee but not above it. A small negative is that water is not distilled in the process. I could do that by some other means. Also, I have to monitor the level in the cup even though the lid covers most of the top. If I could pour hot water into something that has slow release into the filter, that would be great.

I just used this on my camping trip the other day. Not one coffee grain leaked into my cup. The only issue I had was not knowing what measurement to use but overall my coffee tasted pretty good. It’s small and easy to pack. I’m glad I bought it.

If you grind the coffee very finely, it is wonderful. The carafe is quite fragile, so you need to handle it carefully.

I got this to water my plants with. I love the size, and the long spout is perfect for getting to the soil without dropping water on the leaves. The shape is pleasing too - I like the serene look of it. I might even use it for pour over coffee too, I suppose. :)
