Get this instead of subscribing to the mag
This is so much better than subscribing to fitness magazines. I am a regular magazine subscriber and lately most magazines have a ton of advertisements. I also hate reading articles not directly related to exercise and fitness. I don't need articles on makeup, clothing styles, jewelry, nail polish, and ways to improve my romantic/social life. This book gets down to the nitty gritty of what I need to do to improve my health and look better physically. It has routines and diet advice. Because of this book, I am planning to get rid of my current fitness magazine subscriptions.

like a half marathon or trying out a new routine ...
I've used this workout series twice now to tone up for specific events, like a half marathon or trying out a new routine (variety is the spice of life) and found it helpful and was successful in my weight loss and toning goals. Its funny, if you read the reviews that are posted as 1 star, the only negative comment is the book seems disorganized. No, the exercises are not exactly in order with the prescribed routine in the first chapter, but the WHOLE POINT of this book is to really put a plan in place and WORK hard to achieve your goals. Learning exercise names and/or READING THROUGH THE BOOK really shouldn't be an excuse.... Just saying.

Pick me up
Lots of good routines to help you get out of a rut. Bought it on Kindle so it's easy to take to the gym.

Loved the travel workouts!
Although this book, has a lot of gym-heavy workouts, the travel workouts are great, and many of the workouts can be modified for the home with a little creativity! I do with that they provided an at home glutes and an at home abs workout! The author did a great job explaining why certain strength moves are so important! worth the money!

Great resource
Lots of plans and solid information. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to expand their weight training options. It helped me to formulate a new training plan that is working quite well. They also cover the important component of nutrition.

UGH! So disorganized without index or glossary.
I was looking forward to this book, but it is so disorganized and difficult to follow that it is pretty much useless. The book has a lot of information and helpful hints, but that is about it. I bought it because I wanted to have a variety of workouts to choose from. Each workout lists the names of the exercises and the reps, but it does not explain the exercises. You have to search throughout the book to find the explanation of each exercise you want to perform. I would not mind doing that if there was an index or glossary, but there isn't either. There is a list of the chapters at the beginning of the book, that just has a title (ie. Four Weeks to Fit, Lift Like a Girl, etc.) with a one sentence description. The exercise descriptions are embedded in other routines...ugh! For instance I wanted to do the workout in Chapter 4, and it lists Power Pushup, Romanian Deadlift, Smith Machine Curl Throw, Seated Calf Raise, etc. I have yet to find each of the descriptions of these exercises in the book. I know they are in there, but I have given up looking for them (mainly because it has taken me so long to find the other exercises).

Awesome
This book is a great resource for the intermediate and advance exerciser. It covers a wide range of strength training routines. I can see myself referring back to this resource often.
