Blazing internal SSD that lives up to the hype
I swapped in the WD_BLACK SN770 2TB NVMe drive to upgrade my gaming PC and I’ve been really pleased. It’s noticeably faster when booting, loading large games, and moving big files—the difference between waiting and not waiting is real. The drive feels solid (no weird heat or noise issues), and with PCIe Gen4 support, it future-proofs things even though my current motherboard is Gen3. What I like: the sustained performance is impressive—no big performance dips during long transfers. Using it for video editing and game installs, it handled everything smoothly. It also integrates well with WD’s dashboard software for monitoring health and firmware updates. Tradeoffs: it’s not going to beat ultra-high end SSDs in raw top speed, but for the price it’s a heck of a balance. Also, you’ll need a motherboard that supports NVMe; in older systems via adapters it might not hit full speed. And obviously, once the drive fills up a lot, the performance buffer shrinks—but that’s true for most SSDs. If I were recommending who should buy it: go for this if you want serious internal performance without paying for premium tiers. It’s great for gamers, content creators, or anyone who wants snappy system responsiveness. If you're building a budget rig, it’s one of the components worth upgrading early.

Fast, Reliable, and Perfect Fit for My HP Victus
I purchased the WD_BLACK 1TB SN770 NVMe SSD to upgrade the storage in my HP Victus, and it has exceeded expectations. Installation was simple, and the drive was immediately recognized with no compatibility issues. I was able to restore my system to it quickly and painlessly. The size is great for the cost. WD_BLACK 1TB SN770 NVMe Internal SSD – Fast, Reliable
This SSD completely transformed my PC! The speed improvement is insane compared to my old hard drive. Boot times are almost instant, games load significantly faster, and file transfers are lightning quick. If you're upgrading from a traditional HDD or even an older SATA SSD, the difference is night and day. Compatibility & Fit Before purchasing, make sure your motherboard supports NVMe SSDs. This drive is PCIe Gen4, but it also works with PCIe Gen3 systems (though at slightly lower speeds). I installed it in a Gen3 slot, and it still ran way faster than my previous SSD. Fits perfectly in my M.2 slot, but just a reminder—it does NOT come with a mounting screw, so check if your motherboard already has one. ✔ Works great on PCIe Gen3 and Gen4 systems. ✔ Slim & compact M.2 form factor – perfect fit! ✔ Compatible with most modern motherboards & laptops. ✖ Does NOT come with a mounting screw—have one ready! Format Capability Out of the box, it needs to be formatted before use. If you're installing it as a secondary drive, go to Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac) to initialize and format it. If you're using it for a fresh OS install, it works great once formatted through the installer. No issues detected! Final Thoughts – Perfect for Any PC Upgrade! If you're looking for a fast, reliable, and easy-to-install SSD, this is one of the best options out there. Whether you're gaming, editing, or just need a blazing-fast system, this drive is worth every penny! Just remember to check compatibility, get a mounting screw if needed, and format it before use!

Incredible Speeds and Great Startup Drive
I ordered 2 of the WD Black 770's each 1 TB, and 2 ACASIS Thunderbolt 3-4 enclosures, along with the supplied Thunderbolt 3-4 cables. I'm running on a 2019 iMac, 13.5 (beta) Ventura, 1 WD Black as a "startup" drive, the other as a backup with a 1 TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD as an internal drive as a secondary Backup, really slow compared to the 2 externals. The speeds as a startup are off the charts for an aging iMac, using Carbon Copy Cloner for my backups, 200 GB in just over 2 minutes, amazing speeds, everything is so much faster. I looked at other NVMEs but settled on the 770s, it was a great purchase, and I highly recommend these WD Black 770's NVME's . Granted sustained writes tend to fall off as expected, reads rarely drop off. The Black Majic tests were run over a 10min period, a 2 GB stress. If you're looking to speed up an aging iMac with Thunderbolt 3 ports and without taking it apart (risky business but can be done) to do an internal NVME, this is your ticket! Speed Tests say it all, for a 2019 iMac that's fast! Also, I highly recommend the ACASIS 40Gbps M.2 NVME Thunderbolt enclosures. A little pricey but well worth the investment. As a footnote, the "NVME Heatsink with Nano pads and Copper Heatsink from SGTKJSJS" (at $10 it's a great deal) installed on the drives rarely do they get warm to the touch maybe 50 ˚C. After a little trial and error, and some fiddling getting everything to the right height in the cases, once there you're good to go.

Great Product; No Mounting Screw
I got the 500 GB, M.2 2280 configuration. The package arrived several days earlier than Amazon originally stated, which was a pleasant surprise. The drive was simple to unpack and install (for the most part; more on that later). After initiating the drive with Windows 11 Drive Manager, it worked perfectly. It runs at the advertised read and write speeds, and has the available capacity (+- necessary controlling software). I use it for gaming, and even for extended periods of playing relatively demanding games (Rainbow Six, Sea of Thieves, Genshin Impact, Risk of Rain, etc.), I have experience no temperature problems at all. Games boot quickly, and there have been no crashes or indications of drive failure. It has been a flawless experience. I deducted a star because the product packaging did NOT include an M2 screw for mounting. I had to order screws separately. If yours does not include a screw either, you can temporarily hold the SSD in place with a small strip of electrical tape, or keep it pressed down with other components like a heat spreader or laptop backplate (but get the screw eventually).

Needed A Firmware Update For Windows 11 But Otherwise Works
Solid performer for this kind of SSD. That said, it needed a firmware update with the WD/Sandisk Dashboard Software before could install Windows 11 on it due to some firmware level bug. Still leaving 5 stars despite the weird initial firmware bugs as it's been a solid performer in my computer.

Affordable and fast!
Based on the condition of the packaging (packing tape sealed the bottom of the box, which had visible signs of being opened), I feared the worst. Luckily, the SSD was in perfect working condition and is nice and snappy. Love having a 2TB NVME C drive. Glad I could snag this for such a good price.
