Beautiful product
The squirrels haven't been back since this went up! The birds took a little bit to get used to it, especially the cardinals, but now they all love it. I've even had woodpeckers come.It holds a large amount of seed, which is wonderful. I don't have to fill it very often at all. It is a beautiful red color. It easily opens and snaps shut with a little attention (as in, you can't just close the lid, but have to make the latch actually catch) and easily can be filled.

Birds least favorite feeder.
For whatever reason, our birds pick another feeder nearby. I'll try to switch seed and see if that helps. The hanger didn't seem strong so we bought a 5' gas pipe and mounted it. It looks great and seems sturdy. The perch seems slippery so we put black electrical tape along the length of the perch and that seems to help. Now we have cardinals that feed on it since. The seed tray is wide and makes a mess, it seems like for every seed they eat 2 or 3 fall to the ground. Design seems kinds wasteful.

Holds a lot of seed, high quality, but get a pole with it
Nicely made feeder and holds a fair amount of seed. But, if you hang it, be prepared to straighten it every single day, all day long because it will not stay straight no matter what, especially if you have squirrels. It would be much better on a pole mount, though I haven't tried that out yet. My birds go to this feeder last. I'm not sure why. They don't seem to like it. The squirrels on the other hand LOVE it! Not only have they figured out how to unlatch the lid and open it up to get inside, but they also figured out that if they lay across the top and reach down, the bar won't activate and lock them out. The perch bar seems slippery as when the birds land on it, they skid and flutter up off. I think this is why they don't like it. Or maybe it's the color. I'm not sure, but this is the only feeder that remains full (unless a squirrel hits it). Red squirrels can easily lounge along the perch bar and eat at their leisure because they are so light, it doesn't push down. If you buy this, get a pole along with it and it'll likely solve the squirrel problem.

Attractive and squirrel proof
This feeder is more attractive than what I expected and it really is squirrel proof. The squirrels have made many attempts to get to the feed with no success. It is actually quite entertaining to watch. What really helped is to hang a corn cob for the squirrels and then they totally stopped trying to get into the bird feeder because they were too busy with the corn. Now we are all happy. The only reason I gave this product a 4 instead of a 5 is that I thought it would attract the larger size birds that are too big for my other feeder. The cardinals will eat out of this feeder but it is a tight squeeze. Nothing larger can duck low enough to fit under the little roof overhang. I guess I will have to continue looking for a feeder for the bigger birds.

Beware of production quality
Beware, they are pretty cheaply made (especially if you've owned the older version made by Heritage Farms Absolute II Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder). I do think they look very good, but mine fell apart almost immediately (naturally a week after the 30 day return window). I love Amazon, but thought that I should have had 60 days to return to get them replaced. Here is my story:I bought two of these feeders and both had the same problem within 1 month of install. I tried to include a photo, but did not see how to do it. The screws on the side that allow the bar to rotate up and down have deteriorated, so the bar essentially falls off. If you look closely in the Amazon photo, you'see a black washer around the screw on the side of the unit. Somehow it has completely disappeared on both my bird feeders and now the bar mechanism falls off.

Easy to Load Seeds!
This works great and protects against squirrels...until they knocked the whole thing down and the inner side metal pieces popped out.If this happens to anyone else, I used a slender metal hanger to attach the two holes on the inside. This solved the problem. Other ideas welcome!

Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder
I have this feeder mounted on a slick aluminum post with the supplied hardware, it is working to keep the rodents atbay. I have seen cardinals and others feeding, so I believe I have it adjusted properly. For less than fourty bucks and the savings on seed loss to squirrels I would say 'buy this' as long as you have the foreknowledge to adjust the springs to keep the door closed on them and heavier birds. Spring adjustment is easy. The finish also seems to be of better quality than most, if it stands up to the elements, its not a bad feeder.

Rating lowered from 5 stars to 3 after a year.
Great feeder that can hold a lot of food. The finish is bright and appears durable. The perch is metal, so won't rot like wood.Update: after 14 months, I've lowered my rating from 5 stars to 3. The bright finish has faded and is stained. Even though we purchased a raised hook, our squirrels have figured out how to cling to a non-closing part of the feeder and eat. Moderately recommended.
