Tastefully Elegant Wheels With Practical Reliability
I bought these wheels for my Herman Miller Embody Chair. When I initially purchased the chair they came with the standard 2 1/2" plastic carpet casters, because carpet is what I had in my home office at the time. I recently put in hardwood flooring and had to make a decision. I could either get a chair mat for my desk or get new wheels for the chair. I decided to go with the wheels because I wanted to maintain the clean look of my office and these cost as much as a decently sized mat.Herman Miller produces a few wheels for their chairs. I have only replaced the wheels on the Embody but from what I understand they are interchangable between several models including the equally popular Aeron. There are plastic carpet casters, carpet/hardwood combo casters, braking hardwood casters, large carpet casters, and these which HM considers their "premium" hardwood casters.Moving past the foreplay, this is getting a bit long winded for a review about some wheels. They work great. I was intially worried about my decision because I thought a mat may still provide more traction than the wheels but I can happily say that is not the case. My chair no longer slides around on my floor, I can sit and put all my weight into the recline and it will not slip. The wheels don't mark up my flooring and they are extremely quiet. I was very impressed by the low noise level when rolling around and lastly they just look great. They work particularly well on the Embody because the translucent inner wheel matches the translucent joystick that adjusts chair height. To end this review i'll comment briefly on a previous poster who mentioned that these wheels damaged his "soft" flooring. I spoke to someone directly at Herman Miller who informed me that these wheels were re-designed after some early issues where the wheels were cutting into floors and have since corrected the issue. I can verify that these are not "sloped" and do sit flat and firm on my floor.I hope someone may find this information useful.

Nice Upgraded Wheels for Aeron
I always liked these wheels and have wanted them since getting my Aeron 12.5 years ago. I recently had one of the original wheels starting to fail (plastic was starting to crack). So I bought this set and swapped them out. They roll beautifully with the fresh bearings. Also look fantastic and seem like they might hold up better, with thicker plastic components. Highly recommended for any Aeron! Easy to swap out, just pull the old wheels out and put these in. There was a little play/give in the connection to the chair, but once I set it upright I couldn't even notice any issues. They are great!

No Scratched Floors!
Nice alternative to scratched floors! I put these on my Aeron and Mirra and they work like a charm. Money well spent!

Kingpin too small for holes
The kingpin/stem is slightly too small for the factory holes in my authentic herman miller chair. the result is the wheels flop around and perform worse than the factory hard wheels. skip this junk

Quiet so far
The wheels cost a bit more than I wanted to spend but the in-line-skate type wheels I bought previously warped after a couple of years and started screeching when I rolled the chair because the wheel scraped against the metal holder aand sounded like fingernails on an old blackboard. These look good, are totally quiet and by design can't do what the others did. If they are as good as the others in not marring my hardwood floor I will be happy. Hopefully for more than 2 years. I put them on an Aeron purchased about 2005.

Not designed for NEW hardwood floors
I bought these casters (model H9) with my new Aeron chair because the clear/black scheme would look stylish with the polished aluminum. The first impression I got was that they rolled less than I had expected. Perhaps it is beneficial to have some resistance in the casters to make it more stable as you're sitting down and reduces unwanted rolling. Then as I rolled around, I heard some crunching noises from the bottom. At first I was intrigued by this noise thinking that it was just noise from inside the casters as the new wheels get broken in. Later I found that there were marks on my hardwood floor. The casters were actually making dents on the floor as I rolled around and the crunching noise was the wheels cutting into the floor.Upon further inspection, I found that the bottom of the wheels were not totally flat; the surface that is in contact with the floor is actually slanted so that only the inner edge of the wheels was in contact effectively making it a 1/16 inch wheel.Don't be too alarmed either. I think these wheels were designed for older floors that have a harder finish (higher quality, higher density wood) and can withstand the pressure. I have newer hardwood floors that are made from softer more environmentally friendly wood and these CANNOT withstand these casters.I called the backstore and they called Herman Miller only to confirm my suspicions. They said lots of caster companies are having problems with newer hardwood floors not holding up to casters. On the bright side, the backstore was kind enough to ship me a set of C7 casters which apparently has different wheels. I'm going to try those and see if they fix the problem. Although they probably won't be as stylish as these translucent casters, they will more friendly to my floors.Stay tuned.

Good wheels
Placed these on an Embody Chair. They roll on my hard wood floor easily (as if any wheel might not roll easily on hard wood). But the best is there are no scratches or marks on the floor. These wheels move easily, no scratch, and no noise. I am Free to Roll again.
