This trim, simple holder is just right for holding my apple pencil within reach. Using a holder helps me to avoid (1) losing the pencil among the many items on my desk, or (2) forgetting to tuck it back into my iPad cover when I leave my office for a meeting. The holder is not too fancy, so it doesn't look out of place in a utilitarian space. I like that the holder part can be folded all the way down onto the base so that I can tuck it into a pocket of my briefcase if I want to take it somewhere. The stand is quite light, but the pencil is not too heavy to be held securely. I put a small bit of padding in the bottom of the tube to protect the pencil tip, and it works just fine.

Although at first I had trouble with assemblage, I did figure it out. Now the pen holder holds my beautiful glass pen (a gift from my son and d-I-l). The metal nib fits well and the set-up looks beautiful. The pen and nib are protected and stored at the correct angle. I’m very happy with this purchase.

The pen holder itself has dents, not sure if they are to help hold the pen or not. I'm thinking not because of the inconsistency in sizes of the dents.

I use it to hold my quill pen. It's really nice looking. I would not recommend it for a standard pen.

I noticed upon unwrapping that the metal holder atop the acrylic base has an unfinished top edge. I placed a gift roller ball pen in it and noticed the rough edges were running along the side of the polished lacquer on the roller ball. Note: the roller ball was not a large barreled pen but medium in diameter. Also: a heavy pen would weigh down the metal holder which can be easily moved from side to side and would not support the weight of a heavier pen of 35 grams or greater. Additionally, the acrylic base is not very wide or heavy and can topple easily. I'm returning this item.

Was a gift for someone. They loved it cause they just got a fountain pen and needed a stand.
