Good value for the price

This has to be the coolest item ever! It looks great and is a really good size. I have it under a lamp so it casts a really cool shadow on one side which accentuates the look of the piece. I love it and highly recommend!!!

Everyone knows Axel Munch’s The Scream. Probably rather less would want to own an inferior statuette copy of it. The usual criteria for choosing a statue are serenity, beauty, humour and similar reasons - or perhaps something to keep the animals off. This statue would meet only the last of these requirements. I suppose you could say it is a talking point, but not in a cheerful way.If I bought a reproduction of a work of art, I would want it to look reasonably authentic. This fails on two counts. The head – which, admittedly, is not the easiest image to reproduce – looks less like the tortured soul of the original work and more like an alien in a second-rate SF movie. In the painting, the black robe has pale streaks of colour, but on the statue the colours used are far too bright.Part of the problem is taking a figure like this out of context. Much of the effect of Munch’s painting is achieved by the background; to quote the man himself:“One evening I was walking along a path. I felt tired and ill. I stopped and looked out over the fjord—the sun was setting, and the clouds turning blood red. I sensed a scream passing through nature; it seemed to me that I heard the scream. I painted this picture, painted the clouds as actual blood. The colour shrieked. This became The Scream.”The same applies to many other masterpieces; would the Mona Lisa look the same without the calm Italian countryside behind her?It is certainly strongly made, and suitable for outside use, though the leaflet recommends that you store it in a shed and/or cover it in very cold weather.I am mystified by the word “desktop” in the Amazon product title; this word doesn’t appear in the page on Toscano’s own website.
