GE Enbrighten Z-Wave Plus Smart Light Dimmer, Works with Alexa, Google Assistant, SmartThings, Wink, Zwave Hub Required, Repeater/Range Extender, 3-Way Compatible, White & Light Almond, 14294

I got a bunch of these switches to replace old Control4 switches where the controller had died. That proprietary system was ok 10 years ago, but the closed system (non-DIY) was frustrating and requiring a dealer to do anything was expensive and reliant on dealers that I didn't trust. These switches go in very easily if you have a modern home. You need line, load, neutral and ground and it works great. I have replaced most of the bulbs around my house with LEDs and these switches seem to dim them fairly well. I have had some buzzing at low dimming levels and I have a few bulbs that will strobe at low dimming levels, but that seems to be a function more of the light/bulb rather than the switch. Above a minimum dimming level (low setting) they seem to work great and have a good tactile feel. Adding them to SmartThings was very easy and they have all worked pretty much first try when identifying them to SmartThings. No regrets so far, other than cost. I will continue to buy these for the rest of the switches I have to replace. A few thoughts about them... 1) you can't set the ramp rate for the on/off dimming, so you can't make it work like a standard switch (0 ramp - immediate on/off), so be aware of that if you have fluorescent lights with a non-dimming ballast. 2) there is no switch back light. There is a small blue LED at the bottom of the switch that is on when the switch is off. You can't control this (color or brightness), so there may be some conditions where it's hard to see the switch. 3) these require a separate switch add-on for 3-way/4-way setups. The add-on switch takes 2 wires from the master switch to signal it. There is a very small delay between the switch use and the light responding (low lag). 4) there is no way to set a minimum or maximum level at the switch, although this may be possible with the automation controller (I haven't found out how to do this with SmartThings yet). This means you can dim down to a level that cuts off the light from an LED bulb (or causes flicker), but the switch may not be "off". Similarly, you can't set an upper limit for the dimmer for an "on" command. Incandescent bulbs will have a much longer life if you don't go to 100% on, I used to keep the Control4 switch max at 90% and there was no noticeable loss of light an the bulbs lasted a lot longer. Probably not a big issue with LED bulbs, but it's something to be aware of if you haven't converted everything yet.

UPDATED REVIEW: I reached out to Jasco about the ramp rates not working as intended. I received a VERY informative response from the Project Managers. Apparently, the device was operating as designed. However, Jasco has since modified the existing firmware with a new parameter to allow you to adjust the behavior. I tested it on my dimmers and it worked as stated. Very happy with the product and Jasco Customer Service. Response from Jasco: Thank you for contacting Jasco Products Company. Here is the response from our Product Managers: We apologize for the amount of information we need to provide to accurately answer your question, but unfortunately there is some bad information being spread about what you are describing. First and foremost, the GE dimmers 12724 and 14294 do not require a patch or bug fix, as there is not a problem or incorrect behavior. Both units operate correctly as they were designed. All of our previous dimmers (including 12724) used to ramp slowly when being sent a level specific command (1-100). We then updated our 12724 product with enhancements that added additional routing options and to take advantage of the latest Z-Wave technology. When we did this, we had to upgrade the behavior of the dimmers to the latest spec as defined for Z-Wave certification. This new specification requires that when receiving a level specific command (1-100) the device is required to immediately jump to that level. · Any Z-Wave Classic Dimmer (including 12724) that has VER 3.0d and EARLIER on the back of the product will ramp slowly to the specific level when issued a level specific command. · Any Z-Wave Classic Dimmer (including 12724) that has “VER 3.0e” (This is the last version produced on our Z-Wave Classic products) on the back carries this new behavior · Any Z-Wave Plus Dimmer (including 14294), will carry this new behavior. Because this is a requirement for Z-Wave certification, the product must ship with the newest behavior as default. HOWEVER, understanding that our customers may want the previous behavior, we developed a new configurable parameter into our latest GE 14294 and Jasco 14321 In-Wall Smart Dimmer. · Dim Up/Down rate · Parameter Number: 6 · Size: 1 Byte · Valid Values: o 0 (Default) – New Required Behavior (Instantly move to level) o 1 – Ramp up and down slowly (3.0d and previous versions behavior) You can determine if the GE 14294/Jasco 14321 has this feature by verifying the manufacturer date code on the front of the Dimmer in the bottom right hand corner. It will be a small white sticker with 4 numbers. · The First 2 numbers are the Year it was Manufactured (example: 17 = 2017) · The Last 2 numbers are the Week it was Manufactured (example: 07 = 7th week 2017, or 3rd week of February 2017 Any GE 14294 manufactured ON OR AFTER 1651 will contain this new parameter 6 Any Jasco 14321 manufactured ON OR AFTER 1705 will contain this new parameter 6 ORIGINAL REVIEW: So this device (14294) was almost what I expected. Apparently, the dimmer does not ramp UP correctly when the command is issued via zwave. It jumps immediately to the set level regardless of the parameter settings. The only time the ramp rate works as designed is when going to 0%. Any other level jumps straight there. The ramp rates work correctly when issued from the switch itself however. Very disappointed. I'm still inside my return window and will likely send these back if I can't find out if a firmware update might correct this behavior.

I have an Amazon Echo and the Smart Hub as well. They use the z-wave technology. I started slowly upgrading my home to make it more of a “smart hone” and these light switches were one of the first purchases I made. The wiring was very easy and I swapped out the old switches. It took at most 5 minutes each. Once I had replaced them, I went through and downloaded the apps for the smart hub, Alexa, and a couple others because I was also installing additional smart devices. Once installed. The directions were very easy to understand. I setup different rooms on the app and places each switch in it’s respective room so I can control the light by my smart phone anywhere in the world, or by manually turning the switch on / off or through Alexa. I can use the command to turn on and off an individual switch, an entire room, or all lights. The integration is very easy and the commands word great. The old problem I have, is that when manually turning the switch on or off, there is a couple second delay and most people will repeatedly press the switch down to turn it off and without no knowing, may push it repeatedly and it ends up dimming the light. You have to press and wait a couple seconds and the light will turn off / on. It just takes a little getting used to. Not a big deal. I started upgrading my hone because I have a little girls who wakes up scared of the dark often. She can easily tell Alexa to run in her light and it’s really helped her to overcome her fear of the dark.

Trae includo la tapa que se ve en dos colores. El detalle es que no incluyen la tapa que cubre todo el armazon metalico por lo que tienes que conseguirlo. Es por eso que le doy 4 estrellas. Un último comentario es necesario conectarlo al neutral o no te funcionara.

Theses switches do everything that they're advertised to do. Setup was easy, connect hot, load and neutral (REQUIRED) and it works without issue. It turns the lights on/off by dimming up or down, which I'm not a fan of. The dimming function is used by holding down the top or bottom of the switch, and it's slow to go from full bright to full dim or off. The switch connects seamlessly with my Samsung Smartthings Hub and I've been able to integrate this switch into my home automation routines. Two reasons this switch isn't getting 5 stars: - aforementioned slow dimming function. I want to be able to adjust the brightness quickly. - the switch is LARGE. It takes up the entire electrical box. If you have a small box, you'll have a really hard time putting this switch into it with 3 wire nuts and the nut that holds conduit in place inside the box.

I bought two of these. 1 needed to be replaced as it quit shutting off the light when commanded (Even though the hub thought the light was off, and the night light led on the switch its self would switch state). The integrated night light led switching state told me the switch was receiving signal to shut the light off, but the light would not shut off. The replacement only worked sometimes, but seems to be stable and working now. I called to have the second defective one replaced (Again, won't shut the light off even though the integrated led light switches state). To claim any type of warranty this item has to be sent back at the consumers cost (Im in Canada) to be tested. After testing, the item will be replaced. I have asked for a refund as the odds of me getting another one that works intermittently/doesn't work seems to be pretty good. I'm not sure if it's a bad batch of these switches, or what the issue is. I do know that I'll be trying a different manufacturer's product as this product (And its support) is sub-standard.

Hi I ordered two of these. The first one that came the package was not sealed and when I tried to add it to my home SmartThings network it was not recognized. I read the troubleshooting tips and how to do a factory reset. The factory reset did not work and then I called tech support who basically verified my wiring and told me the same instructions on how to factory reset the unit. I was ready to return the product as being defective. I decided to do the same sequence that should reset the device to Its factory settings about 10 times as fast as I could. All of a sudden I see my device flashing five times which means the factory reset worked. I was then able to easily add it to my network and it has worked smoothly ever since. I am using a Aeotec Multisensor 6's Motion sensing capabilities to turn a light on at a 30% level in the night. It takes approximately 2 seconds for the light to turn on after motion sensed. The other dimmer Is being controlled through the Amazon echo and that works quite well to. I am happy with my purchase.

Good switch. slow to pair, hard to install. Very bulky + you need a neutral wire so lots of wire and switch bulk in a small box. BUY MORE THAN YOU NEED!! These have a VERY HIGH FAIL RATE. the reason they are warrantied for two yrs is thats when they fail. I've purchased many (100 ish) and my experience is about 10-20% fail around 2 yrs. I thought GE was good..... these are 'Jasco' !?
