Not too well designed.
The main problem is that it's designed to have the valve screw in from the inside, which is next to impossible due to clearance issues. The best way I found to do it, is just screw the valve into your gas pipe, enlarge the hole in the plastic housing, and slip the housing over the valve.

its like a 6-8" diameter hole in the wall
item is exactly as described...its a bit bigger than i expected... meaning, for a small gas outlet, its like a 6-8" diameter hole in the wall... it can be mounted either on the left or right stud... same brand and quality as the local hardware store...
