Product Description Learning the skills that lead to reading and spelling success is more fun than ever. Kids enjoy practicing phonics rules with fun animation, humor, and songs. Delayed answers and the "on-screen mouth" allow learners to check their reading and pronunciation. Read-along stories and energetic songs help build reading fluency. Covers vowels, consonants, blends, digraphs, trigraphs, silent e, diphthongs, and much more. Over 160 minutes. Grades K and up. Review In the ever-growing realm of phonics videos, this set stands out. The music is a strong component, providing a learning rhythm, the graphics are clear and colorful, and the progressive skills presentation is correct. The "on-screen mouth" is a helpful addition, as children can see how the sounds look as produced by a human rather than an animated mouth. The whole can be used at the learner's pace, either singly or in a group situation. Consider this a valuable contribution to the world of phonics. --Parents' Choice Recommended Review: Excellent Learning Tool! - Teaching children phonics concepts in an interesting way is quite a challenge, one that the folks at Rock 'N Learn definitely rise to. My oldest is five and the youngest two, and all three know the vowel sounds and understand the concept. They can usually be heard belting out the vowel songs as well. They've learned the concept of silent E. Constant repetition helps, of course, to review the concepts. We're almost ready to move onto the next two DVDS in the set, but there's excellent ground covered in the first two--the hard and soft g, c, and s sounds, for instance. We've been using this in conjunction with Reading Bear Phonics as well as some of the Step into Reading Books. While Reading Bear gives them tons of practice sounding out words, this DVD explains the concepts they need to master in a way that makes sense. The Step into Reading Books are a fun way to practice what they've learned. The kids also love the free worksheets available on the web site. They enjoy coloring the pictures and working on the words. Review: It worked! Phonics = success - Bought this program to help my little grands (5 & 6) sound out words during the summer. It worked! By the end of Disc 1 they could read the little stories at the end. And they really enjoyed it and were always up singing & dancing during the musical parts -- at times it was kind of hard to settle them back down for the reading lessons! My grands have only made it through the end of Disc 1 so an updated report may be forthcoming; but school starts next week and I know they won't be over here near as much as they were during the summer. Out of curiosity, I put on Disc 2 and thought it jumped ahead too far, too soon, but possibly not if they do the worksheets. There were worksheets all along that you print out from online but we never did them.

Great Phonics teaching tool
Gave this as a gift for a child with dyslexia. Parents loved it and the child did too. Nice tunes and tools.

Ok
Not my favorite as a mom of five. My kids like it, but it's not their favorite either. There's nothing wrong with it, but we prefer leap frog.

Eh... kind of corny
I travel a lot with my kids so I try and get videos for the aftermarket DVD players I have in the car the entertain them but also teach them. I was hoping this would help step up my 4-year-old's reading a little bit since LeapFrog has been our number one go to for her little on the basics. However listening to it they seem to lose the attention with it a little bit more because it just seems a little corny rather than grasping their interest like leapfrog does. I won't return it just because it's just going to be another thing they put in the car that maybe will give an added benefit. My 8 year old who is in third grade was also watching them so maybe it'll help just reinforce or even remind them of Concepts
