Highly recommend this product. Since I don’t have PC and only own two laptops without CD driver, it was annoying when I couldn’t read CD and DVD content or install CD based software. So I considered getting a hardware accessory component for reading DVD and CD and luckily purchased this unique drive to rip Blu-ray and DVD disks. It is really amazing, as it has a variety of functions, Blu-ray burner & hard drive docking station & fast charger & 3.0 Hub, all the function performs well. I used it to charge my smart phone, the charging speed is fast. It is also very convenient to read your external HDD.Thanks to the Ac adaptor with DC 12v power in, this is the fast external Blu-ray drive I have even seen.As described, it has a hard aluminum alloy shell, so it is very solid. I think this is more durable than other plastic ones, though it is a little heavy, but as a desktop optical drive, you don't need to move it a lot, so I'm okay with that.All in all, very happy with this good design product. I recommend it.

When I bought the drive, I have been struggling with other portable external blu-ray drives for their slow speed. If you need portability, this drive is not suitable for you. But if you want a drive with better performance and more functions, then you should choose this, actually this is the fastest external blu-ray drive I have met.It should be noted that there is no Blu-ray playback software inside. But you can download free BLU-RAY player on the web.，I downloaded a free software called leawo blu-ray player. There is no problem with it so far.In addition to playing & burning various BDs, DVDs CDs, it also has two USB Hub interfaces, which is really important for me because I can connect any other USB devices at the same time. That is very good. It is also worth mentioning that it supports QC 3.0, so it can be charged quickly for my mobile devices. And this product also have HDD interface, this is really amazing.I‘m very satisfied with this powerful product.

The box has no company name, website or other contact details printed on it. The only mention of any technical support in the documentation is to email [email protected] but they never responded after 3 emails. This is a very old unit that is still being sold - I was attracted by the faster read/write speeds it specifies but I never found it to perform any faster than a drive I bought back in 2011. I ended up returning it.

This is the second unit I have had sent to me. The first one died of power, after just 3 days. This one doesn't even recognize an external hard drive, when plugged into the dock on top. At least the first one was able to scrub 2 external hard drives. I really want this unit, but only if it works completely, not just partly.

I already had and external burner, and separate USB to SATA drive cable and docking solution and USB hub to charge my phone and plug in occasional items.Now I have all those things in one device and more room on my desk.SETUP:Really there is nothing to it, just connect the MTHSTEC 4 IN 1 to power and a USB 3 port on your device and you are good to go. One thing to note is that there is no Blu-Ray playback software included, so you will have to find your own if you actually want to watch a commercial Blu-Ray disk on your computer. In my case I use the drive to read existing disc.DOCKING:You can easily insert any 3.5 inch or 2.5 inch SATA drive in the slot provided in the back of the MTHSTEC 4 IN 1 and use it as an external docking station for backups or just adding more storage to your setup. The drives are not held in by anything other than gravity and the SATA connectors, so I would worry a little about using the dock permanently without a little reinforcement around the drive.USB HUB:There are 4 ports on the back, one for incoming USB from your computer, and 2 USB 3 for connecting peripherals, and another always on charging port.PERFORMANCE:In archiving a Blu-Ray (from Blu-Ray to my PC) I hit about 8X speed. Read and Write test for a HDD and SSD were in line with what you would expect from a USB 3.0 device (HDD=150-200MB/s, and SSD = 400 MB/s).OTHER:In my case the internal drive was a well known brand name Blu-Ray Drive, so I don’t expect any issues.RECOMMENDATION:I recommend the MTHSTEC 4 IN 1, it is only a touch longer than my existing external drive, but includes a SATA docking station and HUB as well. It is heavy duty and seems well built.
