My doctor recommended magnesium for my leg cramps, and using this lotion alongside the oral supplement has greatly enhanced the results. Magnesium helps with muscle relaxation, improves sleep quality, supports nerve function, and may reduce the frequency of cramps. Great product. Rub this on your feet at night. Not only does it help you sleep but say goodbye to those cramps when you stretch in the morning! Everything a friend tells me they get muscle cramps, I buy them a bottle of this. And no diarrhea from trying to drink your magnesium!

I originally purchased Ancient Minerals Magnesium Lotion after hearing that magnesium can sometimes help with restless leg symptoms. I’ve used it several times now and overall I’m glad I decided to try it. When my restless legs are acting up, I usually apply a small amount before bed as a first line of defense, and it does seem to help take the edge off the discomfort. It’s not the strongest remedy I’ve tried for restless legs, but it definitely provides some relief and is something I reach for regularly when symptoms start. The lotion itself is very pleasant to use. It glides on smoothly, absorbs well, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. I was also concerned about the scent, but the smell is actually very mild and not overpowering at all. Overall, while it may not completely eliminate restless leg symptoms every time, it’s still a product I’m happy to keep on hand. If you’re looking for a topical magnesium option to try for occasional relief, this one is definitely worth considering. Based on my experience, I would definitely purchase this again.

I usually take magnesium at night to help me fall asleep. I thought I would give this a try after reading about it. It does help relieve pain, and it also --for me---provides a nice, drowsy-relaxed feeling. I like taking magnesium so there is no hangover effect the next morning so I can still wake up for work with no problems. Initially, I was having what I guess was restless-leg issues. Just an uncomfortable feeling in my legs/ calves where they sort of twitch and just won't relax to let you sleep. One pump of this spread on both calves solved that problem COMPLETELY. I put it on other areas like if my hip or lower back is aching, and it helps me fall asleep by relieving the pain in that area. Also, works great if you over-did it from exercise so have achy muscles. I have used it on my neck, shoulders, upper arms, trigger thumb joint pain, low back, hip, legs and feet. No problems whatsoever----besides the drowsiness effect on me. (I would say you could probably gauge if you will feel drowsy/sleepy vs. just relaxed and pain-free based on the effect any other magnesium supplement you have tried has affected you. I just happen to be super-sensitive to it.) I recently bought this product that also contains MSM after reading about the pain relieving effects of MSM on joints. My foot had started hurting mainly under the big toe after wearing some new shoes and doing a lot of walking that day. Anyway, using the cream has also been helpful in that regard, putting it on at night (again because it happens to cause me drowsiness). This does have a rust smell because it is a mineral. I typically wear vinyl or nitrile latex-free examination-type gloves to apply the cream since I do not want that smell on my hands. The smell does go away after a while if you do not want to use gloves. ( Also, I re-use the gloves.) Also, I have learned that this product with just the magnesium lotion is a bit stickier and smellier than the one which contains MSM, but that is because the one with MSM has 25mg magnesium per pump whereas this product contains only magnesium at 40mg per pump. Both lotions do absorb, but this one, at first, will have a bit of a sticky feel. The stickiness and odor both go away after maybe 10 minutes. Additionally, it is true this lotion does not have any effect on your bowel movements. Some can take magnesium during the day with no problems, but this magnesium though a lotion, affects me just like a pill supplement in that it causes me to feel drowsy. (Again, I only add this because I am super-sensitive and want to make sure anybody who is sensitive is aware you might not want to use this for the first time right before going to work. Also, even if you are sensitive to a magnesium-drowsy effect, it may not create that feeling for you with only one pump. ) Bottom line: I think this is a great alternative to taking NSAIDs on a consistent basis which I have read is not good for the liver or stomach lining over time.

Update: After posting this review on Amazon, I was surprised to be contacted by the manufacturer for a refund on Jan 27, 2026. I informed them, yet again, that I’d emailed them directly Jan 19, 2026 through their customer support process on their manufacturer website and asked if anyone monitored that function. I also told them I’d already attached a photo of the lot number and date on the bottom of the canister with my first email when they requested that information again. After supplying them with the photo a second time via the Amazon contact method, I received word from the manufacturer rep that a credit for the purchase would be issued. ——————————————- Container failure on brand new purchase. Product would not dispense. Tried Internet searches on possible solutions to get pump working. No luck loosening using hot water, or priming pump, or hitting container on hard surface, or using straightened paper clips to push into holes on bottom to loosen seal. Sent email and customer support query to manufacture with lot number and date photo from bottom of can. No response. In desperation, broke into container with pliers and screwdriver. Scooped contents into clean glass jar. Maybe not as hygienic as original dispensing method but at least not a total waste. Will research another brand that’s easier to access…something with a pumping system that actually works.

My friend recommended this magnesium lotion because I suffer from restless leg syndrome, and I can tell the difference! Also, as a woman, this is a helpful product when on my cycle. Most people don’t realize how old magnesium deficient they are, but most of us do need more magnesium, and this is an easy way to supplement that into our bodies.

what I do is, after it has absorbed all it can and a little stickiness is left on, I put a little Aloe Vera gel over the place I put the magnesium lotion and massage it in. Then there is no sticky feeling as the Aloe carries it all in through the skin. Aloe gets through all layers of the skin, so, in theory, it will take ALL the magnesium in deeper.
