A disappointment if you are follow news regularly
I bought this with a high expectation given the fame of the author. But unfortunately a lot of what is covered has been covered in news generally. A shorter report from a research house will do as good a job in compiling the recent trends. The book doesn't add much to your knowledge, esp with the time it demands. What is missing - fresh insights, projections and investigations on geo-politics, graphs and charts.Good if one is looking for a story-form compilation of recent energy related compilations.

Highly insightful and informative. Brings together the reason why we are where we are today due to the continuous shifting of world friction amongst the big countries in the world.
Just a good read. Hard to put this book down. We are where we are today because of the shifting focus and interest of our own consumption of the different types of resources mother earth has given us.

No estaría mal.

Want to understand the war in Ukraine?
I retired from the company partly owned by the author, Daniel Yergin. I did not know him personally, but have heard him speak a number of times and have read every book he has written. He probably has as much insight on the geopolitical dynamics of the global energy landscape as anyone alive, and he has a real ability to pick out what is important, summarize, and make it understandable. He also takes what might appear to be a dry topic and turn it into a compelling read. This book was published before the invasion of Ukraine, and even before Biden was elected. But as you read, it will be clear Mr. Yergin would not have been surprised by current events. (This book is definitely not a partisan political book, and you will find no political arguments within).During the summer of 2020 I had the privilege of attending a Zoom meeting in which Mr. Yergin was being interviewed about this book. At the time, Biden was campaigning on his desire to put the US oil and gas industry out of business. I had the chance to ask Mr. Yergin about this. At the time, he said that, despite the rhetoric, he did not think Mr. Biden would want to be the president to jeopardize US energy independence. I’m curious what he might think about this administration’s current policy. (As I said, Mr. Yergin is non-political and would be unlikely to be too critical.)

Wonderful Seller!
The book itself will be a great read. I have always enjoyed Daniel Yergin's writings. But the packaging of this book -- even though it was in its factory-sealed plastic wrap -- was extraordinary! And shipped by FedEx -- no worries here.
