I've been using the Lumina webcam for a few weeks now, and I couldn't be more impressed with its performance. As someone who frequently attends virtual meetings and creates video content, having a high-quality webcam is essential, and Lumina has exceeded my expectations. The Lumina 4k webcam is definitely a powerful product in a small form factor. I purchased it in Atomic Grey, which blended beautifully with my office setup and the magnetic privacy clip works and looks great. For me, the best features of this product would be the depth of settings you can adjust inside the Lumina Plus app. Beyond just the normal color temperature, there's a great degree of control in more advanced settings that can adjust almost any aspect of the video you need. However, that isn't to say the automatic scene settings are lackluster - just the opposite. You can get high quality, beautiful picture with just the automatic settings with a small amount of adjustment. The "Cameraman" setting, which focuses the video on your head and maintains it as the center, moving alongside you to keep you in frame, is useful, but not for me. I prefer having the nice widescreen view that the standard recording settings provide. Using the 4k output, you cannot zoom in or adjust the recording screen, but in 1080p or 720p you can zoom and move the center of focus, which is nice. The output recording does take up quite a lot of system resources when recording in native 4k, but for most applications (Zoom, Discord, etc), they do not support over 1080p so you will not need to worry about that if you only use these apps. If you use software or video recording suites to generate video, such as in Riverside.fm, the 4k output is beautiful. Beware the sharpness slider, though, as it tends to oversharpen to a degree that hampers video quality. The Lumina Plus app is also a nice app for the video, though can be tedious to install if you have an overzealous anti-virus on your system. Windows Defender didn't like the download files and persistently quarantined and deleted these files from my system until I added them as an exception. All in all, would buy again.

I was very impressed with the Lumina out of the box. I work in IT and have tested a lot of different webcams in the post-Covid era, and in my opinion the Lumina stands with the best of them, in terms of hardware as well as software. The camera image is sharp and clear, and the AI features are among the best I've seen in a consumer webcam. The software has a good first-run experience and the UI is pretty straightforward to configure most things automatically, but also presents a good set of options for customizing the image you're getting. Even if it's on automatic, it still gives you a lot of flexibility in terms of setting the exposure, saturation, and so on, or you can manually configure it for complete control. The "cameraman" feature works well in practice, allowing you to set the size of the frame and your position in it, as well as how fast it adjusts, which I find important as quick auto-adjustments can often be inaccurate and distracting. It comes with a neat little magnetic privacy cover, and it seems like they're updating the software regularly too. They even offer a free onboarding call if you want help getting it configured or making sure your image looks its best. All in all a strong showing, and I appreciate a quality product coming from a smaller startup as opposed to a giant like Logitech or Dell. Definitely recommended.

I see a lot of hype. Good branding of course. Their kickstarter got quite many orders, because people dont really know what it's like, they are clicking based on what they see in the branding and description. But alas, it's all lie. They dont talk about the real problem. Ever wondered if this camera was so good why arent more people buying, especially why is it so expensive. The hardware is worth any 50$ webcam. They are making a big margin by trying to make this camera look like a premium high end camera, when it's not. The image quality is not good on the raw feed. But I agree the video after the ai processing is good. But the big problem that they dont mention anywhere is in the architecture. The isp ( image signal processing) ai that makes the video good doesnt run on the camera. The camera doesnt have a very good sensor or a very good isp processor. All the ai isp is done on the computer. The raw feed comes down from the camera over usb to the computer, the the Ai app running in the background cleans it up which creates a good image but at a huge cost of cpu usage. For 720p, even when my zoom app isnt running, the lumina app was consuming 60% cpu usage and there is no way to turn off the lumina app. It doesnt automatically come on when zoom call starts. It needs to be turned on before starting a zoom call. Zoom takes another 20-30% which blasts my cpu to close to 100% and fans start roaring to keep it cool. If I go got higher than 720p, the cpu usage goes past 100%. And this isnt a low end laptop, it's alienware gaming laptop. Btw, the lumina app only runs on windows and ios. It wont run on android or chromebook. It's a disaster, I had to delete the lumina app and return this gimmicky fake device. Just all hype and though I agree the video quality is good and better than most usb webcams, its just a horrible architecture by trying to do the isp on your computer which hits the cpu usage too hard. May be they thought, it's ok because people arent using their computer much while on a zoom call, but we do run a lot other apps that we may share over a zoom call so it's a very poor architecture. They didn't really solve the problem with webcams as they boasted about in their branding, total lie. The only way to fix it is run the ai isp on a beefy processor inside the camera. Go do it right, if you want to change the world. Stop being fake and fooling people. And btw, ita not an American company, the Austin ddress shown on their case and website is a wework office. They are actually a Taiwanese company, most of their employees on LinkedIn are in Taiwan, not USA. I know taiwainess companies make great products, many I use. So nothing against taiwan, just how these guys have tried to fake it to look like a US company. Just all lies .

I've had logitech webcams for years and have always been frustrated because they don't have good controls and adjustments for the video. When my video guru guy (Lou Bortone, the video godfather guy, look up on youtube) recommended taking a look at this one, and showed me WHY he loves it and why he rates it so highly, I discovered that this super cool little powerhouse lumina webcam has solved those problems. This little baby has all the bells and whistles that I wanted and more. Super easy to use, great picture, good sound quality, I can adjust things easily to my hearts content. It even follows me around when I move, zooms in on my face, optimizes everything quickly. I can adjust the angle of the camera as I wish. I had a bit of trouble installing it at first which was frustrating, when I reached out for help their customer service is stellar. I needed a longer cable so it would sit on top of my big monitor and reach my desktop, they helped me with that. And, they offered an onboarding call which was amazing, and helped me understand how to use it properly, found the missing piece in installation/setup that turned out to be a zoom upgrade issue, not a webcam issue. I'm a big fan now, love it!

Running on a Mac Studio and this camera works great when you can use it to its full potential. I have gone through several highly rated webcams and either returned them or gave them away. This one is a keeper until something better comes along. The auto color balance with the included target pallet saves a lot of time color correcting the picture. The color rendering is natural and can be tweaked as needed. The tracking feature is interesting and Im sure has its place for certain situation but it appears to slightly impact image quality. Yes it's expensive but you get what you pay for and in this case if you spend a lot of time in online meetings, and believe there is no second chance to make a first impression, its worth it. I do wish that in addition to being able to flip the image vertically and horizontally that it could rotate 90 degrees. It has a nice slim profile and in that configuration would fit nicely between 2 monitors sitting side by side with screen edges touching if it could be mounted turned 90 degrees between the monitors. Can't comment on the mic as I use a pro mic but if it is as good as the camera it will do for most situations.

This is a pretty good camera. Certainly it's better than the HD Logitech camera I'm replacing. The image quality is very good and the software is a very useful tool, although it's definitely not as impressive as the marketing hype. For Mac users, one important point is that the software seems to have been updated per the Apple requirement for "modern extensions." That said, there are some really annoying issues, some of which other reviewers have noted: The privacy cover is just brain-dead stupid. Either it was designed by idiots or smart engineers were ordered to come up with a "solution" that saves 4.7 cents per unit. If you don't want to spend a lot of time looking for a dropped cover on the desk or floor, make a hinge out of tape or something. Or grab some duct tape and make a boxy little hood for the whole camera. The mount is flimsy and fiddly. It doesn't fit securely on my main monitor so I had to do a bit of MacGyvering. And the cord stiffness tends to twist the camera out of position, so I used an adhesive-backed mount on the back of the monitor, and a small cable tie, to keep things fairly stable. As I said, the software is quite good. The AI "Cameraman" is impressive and really useful. The software interface is, as others have said, simple, but I don't find it particularly intuitive. And it just feels like there should be *more* there. The fact that this camera comes with no manual and that there seems to be no downloadable manual is especially annoying. If it's too much trouble to write a manual for the product, maybe you should be selling products for which no one would need or want manuals. Lumina pushes, with popups and email, an "offer" for an "onboarding call" with its support staff. They can't be bothered to provide a manual and they want customers to schedule a call with them to learn how to use the product? For a webcam? Really? That's insulting. Finally, in the series of emails I've received from the manufacturer I noticed a request to provide a review for their website, with an offer of a small reward for doing so. I think of this as sleazy and dishonest business behavior. (Note that I have *not* seen evidence that the manufacturer is offering inducements for providing Amazon reviews.) Overall, this is a pretty good camera, not as impressive as the marketing hype, and it comes with a few annoying issues.

I have an M1-chip powered 2021 MacBook Pro that spends most of it's time in a dock connected to an external keyboard and monitor and I wanted a good-quality external camera that wouldn't require taking my Mac from the dock. The Lumina seemed one of the higher-quality and more compact choices, so I started there. The camera itself is a rugged but tiny metal device about 3" long and 1" tall. It can be used on a small tripod or clamped to the top of a monitor with the included clamp. On the front is the lens, a pair of microphones and a small LED light that serves to generate front-lighting and to show when the camera is in operation. On the back, there's a USB-C connector for wiring it to your PC or Mac. Once connected, I found no difference in operation between using one of the Thunderbolt 4 ports on my MacBook, or going through an external USB dock. I used the included mount to clamp the Lumina to the top of one of my desktop monitors. One quirky thing is that instead of just making this a simple thumbscrew of some sort, Lumina opted for a design that requires a hex key to tighten. In my case, the hex key was nowhere to be found in the package, but thankfully I have a set of my own. Once mounted, I found the tiny camera a bit sensitive to motion - it pretty much just rests atop my monitor...there's no "clamping" force to keep it in place. One problem I had was that the included USB cable was too short - at 30", there's no way it reaches from a perch on top of a large monitor all the way to a PC docked nearby. Lumina includes a magnetic shutter that can be used to block the lens, ensuring privacy. The idea is good, but I find that the magnet isn't strong enough when the shutter is slid away from the lens...it stays put in the closed position, but when open, it's prone to falling off the camera. An internal shutter might have been a better choice. I found the built-in microphones to be adequate overall, although I tend to use a Blue Yeti desktop microphone rather than the built-in ones most of the time. Because the Lumina microphones sit further away from me, I find they're a bit more likely to pick up background noise than my Blue Yeti. Still, the sound quality from the Lumina is more than adequate for things like videoconferencing, especially if you're in a quiet room. The camera is 4K-capable and overall, I'd say that the lens and sensor generate a reasonably good image under good lighting conditions. Like many cameras, in dim light, picture quality degrades somewhat, but few of us want to use a webcam in the dark. I do find that if you have a lot of backlighting, the software struggles a bit with exposure, but thankfully, you can manually set exposure levels yourself. Once plugged in, you can use the camera in "raw" mode from pretty much any application. I tested with all the popular web conferencing solutions (Zoom, Teams, WebEx, GoToMeeting, etc) and none of them had any issues at all with the Lumina camera. I also used Camtasia and a few other apps that support the video capture and they worked fine as well. I also tried the Lumina on a Windows 11 PC with similar good results. I give Lumina high marks for compatibility - I find that on my M1 MacBook, some apps - notably Microsoft Teams - don't play well with many cameras I've tried...the Lumina is the hands-down winner in this regard. Note that in the "raw" mode, you don't get any of the video manipulation features Lumina talks about (that's part of the "Pro" mode using Lumina's software) and the wide angle lens means you need to get pretty close to the camera to have a reasonably sized image. It works great for groups, but you'll probably get a lot of background in the scene for individual use unless the app you're using provides some sort of cropping. As for the included Lumina Pro software, I must say that I found the installation and configuration process the weakest part of the entire Lumina experience. Once you download the software, you're forced to register for an account and obtain a license key by email before you can proceed. To get the license key, you need the serial number of your device, and it's not stamped on the camera itself or on the packaging...the only way you can get it seems to be from within the Lumina installer. For some reason, the software didn't detect my camera properly, so there was no way I could get the serial number without rebooting my MacBook. Even after that, the approach is a messy "we'll email your license key, then you need to cut/paste or type it in". Once you manage to get Lumina's software installed and configured, you'll see the option of "Lumina Pro" in the list of cameras connected to your computer, and if you choose this option, you get all of the features Lumina advertises. To me, the most significant feature is subject tracking, a feature that (digitally) zooms in on you, then keeps you centered in the frame, even as you move around. The motion is smooth and similar to what you might get if there were a human camera operator tracking you. Of course, the Lumina isn't a true PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) camera, so there are limits to how far it can track you. I have a few gripes with the Lumina Pro software. For one thing, I was a bit disappointed in the Lumina's implementation of their background blur feature. Even configured for the maximum possible blur, I felt it left too much detail. Also, the Lumina software doesn't have the option for custom background images - for that, you need to rely on the video software you're using, or else use the camera in raw mode through something like Krisp. The good news is that many apps have this feature, but for those that don't, it would have been nice to see it in the Lumina software. I did have the opportunity to communicate with Lumina's customer service team, and I found them easy to deal with and responsive. That's rare in today's world among consumer-grade products and Lumina deserves a hand for trying to be responsive to customers. Bottom line is that the Lumina hardware platform seems about as good as any of the options out there. I'd say the Lumina Pro software is the weak point, but the camera works fine without and there are other options for most needs. Lumina seems to be a young company, and hopefully they'll continue to improve on their software - if they do, this will definitely be a five-star product that competes with anything else out there in this price range.

Incluso a mínima resolución 720p, con todas las opciones de tratado de imagen, las opciones de seguimiento desactivadas, y con baja iluminación, se queda en alrededor de 22fps, lo cual es insuficiente para los objetivos que tengo planeado. En mi posición necesito bastante fluidez, alrededor de 30-40fps sería lo correcto. En funcionamiento regular, con las opciones por defecto, funciona a 19-20fps, en un ordenador Mac con procesador M1 del 2023, por lo que no es un problema del terminal. Para las pruebas se ha reinstalado dos veces, reiniciado el ordenador varias veces, optimizada la configuración, a mínima resolución, el máximo alcanzado fue de 22fps.

It's a remarkable upgrade from your run of the mill cheap webcam. The cameraman feature to keep you centered is pretty neat, and overall I look a ton sharper/better. Although Zoom, etc. have blurring and lighting features, they don't work nearly as well as Lumina did.

Really good product. I especially like the size as I initially thought / assumed it was bigger, but it's really the size of a small cigarette lighter (I don't smoke, but only reference that came to mind...), which means you can actually carry it with you, not only use it at home or the office. And for the functionality, it did what it claimed. Good auto-focus, good functionality. Great picture quality and easy integration with all video apps. Actually no integration as it worked seamlessly which was another unexpected benefit. Generally all good with a few unexpected positive suprises!
