Will Lilac and Caledon live the life they want?
The Queen's Secret by Melissa de la Cruz is the spectacular ending to this wonderful duology. Will Lilac and Caledon live the life they want?Queen Lilac and Caledon HoltQueen Lilac was once an assassin in training instead of doing her royal duties, and that all changed when she had to accept her fate. I have to admire her for wanting to keep up her training and seeing Cal on the side despite being married. Hansen, Lilac's husband, doesn't care for her or want to be married to her. The two have an agreement, but how long will that last? I have to say that I was pretty worried about these two lovebirds and how they might get separated after all.Cal loves Lilac even more now than before when he only knew her as Shadow. The only problem that Cal has is that he wants Lilac to be his wife and not Hansen's, but nothing the two can do about that. Cal is another one of those characters that I love to learn more about as we follow along in his parts of the story. Cal is a sweet man who deserves a lot more, but he loves his Queen and will do anything to keep her safe.I love these two together and how their love can withstand anything. The StoryQueen Lilac and Caledon Holt are still trying to keep their promise of loving each other. The two are also trying to rid their world of the evil that is still around them all the time. Lilac keeps her eyes on things around the castle while Cal is sent off to do his assassin thing. Sadly, things aren't going their way, and I have to say that I was surprised at who the evil person turned out to be this time. Quite a lot happens in this book, and I don't want to spoil anything.Five StarsI am giving five stars to The Queen's Secret by Melissa de la Cruz and recommending it. Ms. Cruz has done an excellent job on this duology, and I loved everything about it. I still feel bad that Lilac has to give up her dream of being an assassin instead of ruling. Except Lilac does a superb job of being Queen.I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of The Queen’s Secret by Melissa de la Cruz.Until the next time,Karen the Baroness

Good read
Wasn’t expecting a sequel to the first book “The Queens Assassin” the book was good but didn’t leave me craving to read it like the first book did! That’s why I gave it 4 stars

The kingdom's balance is shaken in this duology finale!
In the imaginary world of Avantine, Lilac is now married to King Hansen. The kingdom’s citizens blame her for the odd and scary events that take place. They believe she’s a witch with dark magic. Strange deaths shake the balance in the kingdom and when her mother’s palace is destroyed, no one and nowhere feels safe. Cal and his cohorts have to work quickly to solve the problem and help rebuild their kingdom’s safety.Likes/dislikes: The repeated mentions of past events became tedious. The relationships fell into place too conveniently and quickly towards the ending of the book. I would have liked to have more background on Jander and the demon wreaking havoc in the kingdom because that would have made the world building stronger and the story more interesting. The unwanted marriage between Lilac and the king overshadowed everything.Mature Content: PG-13 for implied sex, gentle kissing, urgent nondescript kiss.Language: PG for 4 swears and no f-bombs.Violence: PG-13 for bloody deaths by stabbing and falling; messy, bloody death of a horse.Ethnicity: The ethnicity is mixed.

Absolutely amazing
Just like the first book "The Queen's Assasin" this made my jaw drop in amazement. Throughout all the chapters everything is described so well and the story is told very well. I do recommend this to maybe 6th graders and above due too some intimate details, but overall absolutely amazing.

Secret worth of killing
Would she choose to kill or not to keep her secret stay secret. Someone is connected to her but who? Each chapter will be taking turns of two character who seem to connect to eachother somehow. Will either of them save the kingdom?

Well written!
I was thoroughly entrenched in reading this book. So many twists and turns! A wonderful read that I would definitely recommend.

Not my favourite
I think book 1 set this up nicely so it could’ve been much better than it was. I was a bit disappointed in the ending.

Very Disappointed
I loved the first book so much and I was very excited to read the sequel but it was a massive let down. Most of what happened in the story seemed kind of pointless and was just written to get something down and I really wished it went for a different approach that had a different story.
