Good quality, time-consuming assembly
I ordered four of these for our small non-profit office. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase and we will be keeping these for a long time.Pros:*Very reasonably priced.*The parts are good, heavy, sturdy wood.*All the parts were included and went together the way they were supposed to without difficulty.*Wood parts were clearly labeled, making it easy to confirm you were working with the right pieces.*Instructions were 95% clear, with only a couple of ambiguous places.*Attractiveness and functionality meets my expectations for the price point.Cons:*All the different screws are in one bag and not labeled with the numbers used in the instructions. Assembly was slowed down by need to continually flip to the front page to see a drawing of what that number screw looked like, and then try to visually match the screws in front of me to the line drawing.*Requires own tools to assemble. Usually these pre-fab deals only need an Allen wrench/hex key which is included with the package; this item requires both a flathead and a Robertson or Phillips head screwdriver at minimum.*Requires power drill to assemble most effectively. On the need for power tools: Each drawer has two roller tracks on it, each held in place by three teeny-tiny screws (18 tiny screws total). The holes for these screws are not pre-drilled. The wood is soft enough that even as a small female without much upper body strength, I could easily enough bear down with a manual Phillips head to drive them in, but it's much more difficult and time-consuming than if I'd had a power drill. A power drill with a magnetic bit would have stopped the screws from slipping and reduced the time per screw from something like 30 seconds per screw (x 18 = 10 minutes just to attach the rollers) to probably 3 seconds per screw (could have attached all the rollers in under 2 minutes). Each drawer has a plastic handle with pre-drilled holes. As with most pre-drilled holes, they're much smaller than the girth of the screw, to create a snug fit. Unfortunately, I lacked the strength needed to drive the screws through the hard plastic with a manual screwdriver. I was able to drive them in just enough to affix the handle loosely to the drawer. It will require a power drill to tighten so handle is flush with drawer face. The screws technically require a Robertson head screwdriver (not common outside of Canada), and I was making do with a Phillips head. Perhaps if I had the Robertson screwdriver I would have been able to get enough torque to drive through the plastic without a power tool. Also good to know: A slight negative which didn't affect my rating: it takes a long time to build. I build a lot of these budget furniture pieces and often somewhat enjoy the process and can whip together most tables and chairs in 20 minutes or less, but it took me about an hour to build the first of these cabinets, without power tools. Halfway through I was getting frustrated and impatient that it was taking so long to construct. I think I'll be able to shave build time down to 30-40 minutes for the remaining three cabinets, now that I've already done it once, and will be using a power drill for the remaining ones. I didn't take off any stars for this, because I don't think there's any way the manufacturer could have made this any faster to assemble, except perhaps pre-drilling the holes for the roller tracks. There's just a lot of pieces involved in a multi-drawer filing cabinet (5 walls of the main body and 5 walls x 3 drawers = 20 total pieces of wood, plus 12 roller tracks). But just be aware that if you don't want to spend 30-90 minutes building one of these, and you're not on a non-profit budget, you may want to consider spending more for a pre-assembled one.

Not bad, but nothing exceptional. Price is too high for what you get.
First of all, no - it's not real wood. Quality was OK. Unit was well packaged, and everything went together alright. But on the other hand, you can get the same level of quality in a less expensive Chinese-built unit - as long as you steer clear of the really cheap stuff. I've assembled a ton of furniture ranging from very solid to extremely cheap, and this one is definitely middle of the road. I figured being Canadian-made and somewhat expensive (for such a small and simple piece of furniture) that it would be a little bit further up the ladder. Some predrilled starter holes for the drawer rails (where they screw into the drawer bottoms) would have been nice, for example. More importantly, stronger panels.Don't get me wrong, the cabinet looks and works OK. I guess here's my real beef with this Cabinet: If I didn't order it personally, all references to Canada were redacted, and I was ordered to assemble it... I would have believed it to be a less expensive chinese product. The materials, parts, and even the instructions are essentially indistinguishable from a cheaper asian unit. To the point where I believe most if not all of the hardware (screws, cams, dowels, rails, etc) was not actually produced in North America. To add insult to injury? The drawer handles are plastic. They should at least be a low-grade inexpensive metal ("antique-look" painted even).

Looks good, but you get what you pay for
Build quality is acceptable but not great. The particleboard split on one of the drawer side pieces, but the company sent another very quickly, so thumbs up on that. Drawers don't slide very smoothly. But I didn't pay a lot for this cabinet and it looks nice in my office, so I can't complain too strenuously. It will only get light use and it does the job.

Good price. Worth the effort
I'm 70. Hard to read instruction. Don't really get putting together stuff. Took me 7 hours to put one together. Same with the second, however, once together, Sound quality. Held together well.quality. Good price. Worth the effort. Both chests came with exact parts. Will last me a lifetime since it may be 20 years at best. Could last longer than I.

OK but lots of VOCs
The assembly took time but instructions are easy and very clear, parts very well labeled. Much easier that Ikea furniture. The cabinet does its job, its what I expected for this price. However the item smells strongly of VOCs (formaldehyde?) because its made out of particle board. So If you have time and do not need it right away, store it for a month or so in non-inhabited space to reduce exposure while it gasses out. My intended use was for the bedroom, luckily its summer so I will keep the window open, or I may store somewhere lease. Studies showed that gassing-out takes a while - it decreases linearly with the log of time. Half time (how long it takes to decrease by 50%) in a study testing different furniture was 216 days. Amazon's AI does not allow me to post a link where these studies are listed but its in google answers (threadview 299721) for those who are interested.

I love it and disregard anyone who says it was complicated...
This is exactly what I needed. It was very, very easy to put together and I have extensive experience with build it yourself furniture. This might very well be the best experience that I have had with this type of furniture. The quality is very good and it is attractive enough (let's face it, it's particle board furniture that's dirt cheap. If you want solid oak, this is not for you and expect to pay a lot more for it.) I love that it's on wheels so it can be moved to chase dust bunnies. And the two smaller drawers hold post it notes, paper clips, etc. I highly recommend this file drawer.
