Husband here. These shelving units are relatively sturdy, attractive, and very easy to assemble. They are suitable for your garage and also your office or other places in your home. Now I wouldn’t throw heavy bags of fertilizer or a huge box of heavy bolts on them, as you will probably bend something or smash a shelf. The shelves are fine for light or medium weight stuff. I wouldn’t believe that 500-plus pounds per shelf marketing. Yes, the shelves are thin, but I figure if some warp over time I can easily cut some thicker ones. For assembly you could probably ignore the instructions. I do recommend that you watch one video and a short section of another before doing any assembly. Go to YouTube and search for “homedant z-beam assembly instructions.” Select and watch the video that is 4:57 long. (You can mute the audio as it is only music.) I watched it twice; the second time pausing it here and there to study individual video frames. Then select the 3:19 video for assembling the z-beam. The first method for installing the z-beam is confusing so I suggest you click “more” under the video to show the chapter links. Then click on “The other way of Combine the Z-Beam” at 1:02 and watch only that. (Yeah, they didn’t run the translations by a native English speaker.) If you have a rubber mallet, it may come in handy from time to time, but not required. I could add only a few things. My shelves were white on one side and wood grain on the other. Just make sure the top and front edge of the shelves match. Second, if you are putting a couple of shelves close together, put the shelves in as you go; don’t wait until last. And also keep in mind you can only use the z-beam for the basic shelf installation. I do wish you could buy additional z-beams so you could install two under one shelf without leaving another shelf with none. Also, I would like to buy additional snap-on hooks that you hang stuff from.

These are the key points for us and why we recommend this product. 1. Sturdiness and Durability: This is extremely sturdy. We use them in our garage and garden house. They are durable and can maintain lots of weight. 2. Adjustability: They are adjustable. This is great, as we can adjust to fix any number of items we are storing. 3. Assembly and Installation: Instructions are a little hard to follow but once you get the gest the shelf unit comes together easily. Warning wear gloves so you don't smash a finger. 4. Storage Capacity: It provides ample space for our storage needs, and it effectively utilize space in your garage and storage area that would most likely become a clutter mess. Overall we recommend this product. 👌

Very sturdy! Easy to assemble. Though I would get a rubber mallet and lightly tape on the bars just to make sure the bars are fasten from manually inserting the bars to the holes. I’m knocking down a star because of the z bars. When you insert the z bars/beams and place the board on top of it, the board would bulge out a bit because it is resting in that z bar/beam. Not noticeable from afar but you can tell when you’re up close. Maybe find a way to change that in the future

I had previously tried the 5 tier shelf from sams club -very bad idea- returned immediately to sams because they were so flimsy and wouldn't stay together. So I ordered 2 of the "HOMEDANT Z-BEAM Heavy Duty Wide Size Garage Storage, 5-Tier Adjustable Metal Shelving" units. They were much more expensive then the sams ones I had but I saw good reviews and I figured I would try them out. Unfortunately amazon shipped and the 1 shelf was damaged. Big gash on the back and all the corners of the shelves were damaged. However, 1 of the shelves was perfect. So I started putting that together. Let me say, the ease of putting those shelves together was amazing. You need a rubber mallet but when you have one leg hooked into another you don't need to worry about it coming apart. I easily put it together myself in less than an hour. Those notches Homedant has are not little welded on bolts like sams club, but are actually punch outs of the metal itself and they tighen into the bars perfectly! The shelves are MDF but they are thicker than what you would get elsewhere. And with those Z rails I have no doubt that they will easily hold up as long as they don't get wet. Oh also, I had contacted the seller right after purchase to see where I could get some more Z rails and they sent them right over! No issues. Great company and superb product.

This was easy to assemble and is very sturdy. Everything fit nicely while assembling. No issues. Carton arrived safely, no damage and no internal damage. Very happy with this purchase.

it seems silly to think a shelf is so great but I freaking love it. It's super secure, really, incredibly easy to put together and looks quite nice especially for the price. I even loved the package it was shipped in, it was very compact and one more thing! The instructional video is on YouTube Go sneaky hard!

Facile à assembler et très solide

L'armoire est arrivé intact malgré sont poids. Mais lors de l'assemblage des premiers pattes en métal il faut absolument cogné fort pour que se soit solide et pour que la possibilité que de se défaire soit réduit. Deplus en hauteur chaques pattes ne sont pas dans un seul morceau donc 4 pattes c'est 8 morceaux. Pour le prix c'est parfait mais pas convaincu que les pattes du bas puisse supporter 1500lbs sauf si c'est bien fixé aux murs arrière.
