Great Book, A lot of potential
This was a awesome read and I can definitely see the potential in the story. It reads like you are watching a movie, I really like how Galen gives you insight to the characters by using inner monologue so we can "hear" their thoughts and struggle with them while they are progressing through the story. This book really sets up a great platform for his next books and I am a fan of the 20's and 30's era which he adds some great detail and makes it feel like you are really there with the characters, but I don't want to give away too much. Some things I think could be improved upon with the book has more to do with editing than anything else. A couple of misspelled words here and there, also context in some situations where transitions between chapters or parts of the story feel a little rough or give you a little bit of whiplash. Once these things are smoothed out, this would be a great book series to follow or would be a great premise for a scifi movie if it was put into script form. Great read, get it now before it goes international. :-)Larry

Gripping Imagery and Wonderful Story line!
There are few books I would place in the "can't-put-down" category, but Galen Holcomb's "Ka-Ru: The Overthrow" belongs there. From the opening scene, where we are introduced to the character and spirit of Ka-ru, to the final page, the action is not just break-neck, but carefully paced and riveting at the same time.Mr. Holcomb's talent for imagery reminds me of C.S. Lewis in "The Great Divorce." The imagery is almost too intense sometimes, and I found myself at times having to pause to take in the scene. The graphic description of the garden snakes overtaking the family cat almost made me wretch! Excellent use of words to create a visual image for the reader!Improvements to the book would include more editing to minimize distractions from the flow, and perhaps a clearer exposition of the conspiracy, its unfolding and overthrow.Excellent piece of fiction, and I look forward to another book in the series!
